irrespective of technical details or the drama volume, it's good that there is a focus on something that belongs to mpv's "one job". that's infinitely better than adding random out-of-scope bloat a solo wintard may or may not have asked for.

it really takes that long if you have that kind of weak hardware (and the os is linux)

you failed to provide your proof. we will assume your malware is written in rust and can't be compiled on toasters (your own claimed requirement) until you provide actual proof that it isn't, in the form of source code we can try to build on toasters.
DropWindowsSupportNow No.106954852 [Report] >>106955188

you are not special.
your malware is not special.
and cargo/rustc supports the jobserver protocol and scales parallelism/resource usage accordingly.
building with very limited cpu and 512MiB ram works without much swapping if any. building with <=256MiB still works but requires swapping and thus can be extremely slow. and this was tested on a 64bit environment, so there is overhead from the larger addresses.
so users who want access to the source, and want to build it on a "phone chip from 10 years ago", can very much do so. they however can't do either with your not special malware.
you lost the "my malware extracts fast" argument.
your current argument requires you to share the source of your malware and you won't.
you should have heeded my advice and found another thread to lure victims in.

meanwhile you don't have any malware proof despite being available for anyone to inspect for years
> building with very limited cpu and 512MiB ram works without much swapping if any.
post build time for release build
my extractor builds in less than a second with optimization and lto

all your claims were, are, and will always be unverifiable without functional source code that can be built.
>compilers leave version strings in binary
binaries can be trivially patched. unverifiable claim.
>post build time for release build
it takes an hour, maybe slightly longer. single threaded. limited CPU. 512MiB memory. all defaults. code from the previous comment with this dependencies section:
rustypipe = "0.11.4"
tokio = { version = "1.48.0", features = ["rt-multi-thread"] }

this is a verifiable claim.
>my extractor builds in less than a second with optimization and lto
your extractor builds in 10 hours and requires 32GiB of ram. feel free to provide a counter proof that can be verified.
no matter how much you repeat this, it's a 100% useless claim, which is a % only slightly higher than the disingenuousness of the "compile time on 10 year old phone" argument.
>my malware is maybe XXms faster
good progress from "yt-dlp takes 30s on windows". at least someone could verify this if they are willing to install your malware and it has a usable CLI interface.

mpv is such a fucking mess currently. I find it hilarious that all of their attempts to make colorspace handing "smarter" has completely backfired, and now mpv is utterly incapable of displaying correct gamma by default, forcing everyone to disable all forms of colorspace-hint and manually adjust contrast ratio until they just revert everything from the past 2-3 months.

There's a reason why mpv never touched gamma on anything except HDR sources. It's almost as if SDR gamma is completely ambiguous and most people don't care about it... Even mplayer has a less washed out picture than mpv now.

xhe will never release any meaningful part. (And no ikafb doesn't count, that's just boilerplate wrapper around system windowing libraries).
At first I thought it was just because he likes to feel special and part of a sekret club, which would fit with the whole shtick.
But with how much it is sneakily shilled, and the way virustotal is always brought up as proof, i'm convinced it actually is backdoored in some way, since decently familiar with systems programming should know it's not that difficult to evade virustotal.

the main advantage is you still can use gpu-next while still having a consistent image, it just requires more lines in a config

libre has more features and fixes, less drama, and a developer who will just fix shit if you report it and it can be easily fixed. it is also more GPLv3/AGPL heavy, which is good for individual users and contributors, but companies hate it.
ff has less stuff, more drama, more money (and drama related to money), and an issue tracker that only exists so it is said that there is an issue tracker. but hey, it's "the official upstream".

it uses encryption on segments not samples, which is trivial to support, and is supported out of the box by most clients, including ffmpeg. so, just copy the m3u8 url and do:
ffmpeg -i <m3u8_url> -c copy file.ts

if you use another client, make sure to use a single connection (no parallelism). otherwise, this server will give you a lot of errors.

copying to RAM is needed for filters (i.e. hflip) and if there's an issue with your hardware/drivers that's causing artifacts, if you need none of that then there's no point in using *-copy

it's basically paul's branch. i wouldn't even call it a fork, since paul doesn't appear to be bothered to e.g. change any names of libraries or even tools, as a branding move.
licences vary basically from file to file. but paul doesn't do LGPL in his own code/contributions/additions.
also not sure what you meant exactly with that last sentence. you can go from lgpl to a more strict license like the agpl, it's the other way around that is "hard".

Anonymous No.107029397 [Report] >>107029453
>>107028735
>MP4, MKV, ...etc
Do you mean of the files that have my desired metadata layout/output or what I use yt-dlp to download?

If it's the former then it's mp4 and it's just the default metadata template whenever you just press the download button on the website to download the file. Don't know why but it's the default for most sites so that's why I want all my files to have that template.

If you mean what format whenever I use yt-dlp then it's usually just the default although I know that you can use --merge-output-format and I occasionally use that to make the files mkv or mp4.

Atm I'm using yt-dlp to download vimeo videos. Some of those videos have the download button enabled and some do not. If I download a video using the download button on Vimeo I get the former template and if I use yt-dlp then I get the latter, I want the former while using yt-dlp. I have tried using the --embed-metadata and it does add the "recorded date" but I couldn't figure how to edit the metadata so it looks like the former.
Anonymous No.107029453 [Report] >>107029821 >>107053930

maybe something like this:
yt-dlp \
--exec "ffmpeg -i %(filepath,_filename|)q -c copy -metadata 'Encoded date=`date -u +'%Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S %Z'`' %(filepath,_filename|)q.mkv" \
--exec 'mv -f %(filepath,_filename|)q.mkv %(filepath,_filename|)q' <url>

the final file will always be matroska even if it doesn't have an mkv extension.
you can try to disable tags by passing `-metadata TAG_NAME=` (with no value) to ffmpeg. but you need to know the real name of the tag (e.g. using ffprobe), and i couldn't disable the default ENCODER (Writing application) tag with quick testing.
note that "Encoded date" and "Tagged date" may not be real tag names either. i don't know what your picrel is from, so i couldn't guess where they come from.

Can you explain how I'm supposed to use that code? I tried replacing the url with the link, filepath with the file path and the filename with the filename but that didn't work.
>i couldn't disable the default ENCODER (Writing application) tag with quick testing.
I could live with that I guess but I would prefer it if I could remove it from the metadata.
>note that "Encoded date" and "Tagged date" may not be real tag names either
Are you sure? Both ffprobe and exiftool (see pic related) recognise them and using various tools to rename files also recognises and is able to pull data from that.
>i don't know what your picrel is from
Here's a random short vimeo video https://vimeo.com/1131033510, if you download it through the download button on the site you'll see the tagged and encoded metadata. That's how I want it

This is what I'm currently using to download vimeo videos but it's not ideal.
yt-dlp -v --cookies-from-browser BROWSER --embed-metadata --parse-metadata ":(?P<meta_comment>)" --parse-metadata ":(?P<meta_title>)" --parse-metadata ":(?P<meta_artist>)" --parse-metadata "%(upload_date>%Y-%m-%d)s:%(meta_date)s" https://vimeo.com/NUMBER --video-password "PASS"

It seems like that sets a constant FPS, though. HandBrake has a setting for variable framerate so I assumed I could easily replicate that with ffmpeg alone.

I don't know if I need variable framerate but I assume it would reduce file size. If it consistently saves even 1% that's a big deal for me.

mid iq: Noo we have to follow the specs. It's not mpv's fault your monitor sucks. You just haven't tried the right combination of target-contrast, treat-srgb-as-power22, sdr-adjust-gamma, target-colorspace-hint, target-trc, target-colorspace-hint-mode. rtfm, wontfix!
