The Good/Bad cycle ended with Windows 7, which was the last "Good" Windows version. I wouldn't say 7 is the greatest but its the last usable Windows versions. Everything after 7 is objectively bad. They had some great ideas, like WSL for example, but overall the downsides of modern windows version greatly out-weight their positives. Modern Mac is slightly less bad choice, compared to Modern Windows I guess, with troonix being the worst mainstream alternative (everything else is not even worth mentioning). Smart people who don't need modern troonware can just stay on 7, and maybe get secondary machine with something like LTSC to use modern troonware in case you need it.

The good/bad cycle is a cope made up by retards to rationalise their shitty decisions.
Most people skip a Windows release because they don't want to upgrade their hardware to meet the new requirements, making that one "bad." It's why there's so much inconsistency between which ones are "good" and "bad" - everybody is on different hardware upgrade cycles. There are plenty of Vista apologists out there, for example, as well as people who "don't understand why people dislike 8."
The winjeets who complained about Windows 10 being shit when it first came out are now clinging to it for dear life.
Even now some are saying Windows 11 "isn't so bad."
And Winjeets have completely retconned how much hate their was for XP at release.
Five years from now the same faggots crying about 10 will be professing their love of Windows 11, because they have been buck broken into accepting operating systems that consistently deliver worse and worse user experiences.

otherwise i really just dont even know where to begin. 11 is a layer cake of duct taped on UIs and management and settings pages that all call on the same multiple decades old reg files. old school control panel is still in the OS for christs sake and is literally better organized and more useful than the last 3 iterations of settings pages they've shat out to be more "user friendly". writing is on the wall for their game plan moving forward - you will be constantly logged in and surveilled by an AI while using their machine. this is the terms of service that you agree to by using their free operating system.

aside from compatibility with a select few gay softwares like the adobe suite there is just no real reason to specifically use windows as a half-competent individual in the year 2025 aside from "it was like this when i found it".

as much as i do not want to main a linux desktop our of sheer laziness, it is now JUST AS MUCH EFFORT to un-shittify windows 11 digging through reg disabling everything copilot (which they will soon force you to leave enabled) and the dozens of other annoying bloaty spyware they thrust upon you... 2026 is the year that i nut up and install arch. i feel gay saying it but its gotten to the point where that looks more practical, useful, and aesthetically pleasing than windows 11.
