What happened to 2010s futurism?

I thought this was going to be another "muh frutiger aero" kinda thread but this is a good question, actually.
I remember the hype around transparent screens and other tech that haven't come to pass, but probably for good reason.
Innovative tech has stagnated significantly since after the 2008 recession IMO.

Not a thing + kill yourself zoomer, the 2010s was a literal wasteland for all forms of creativity. No wonder you're kind can't even make smalltalk with customer service

All of these things expect for the slime aren't concepts. The fact is that unless you can engineer something nobody cares about theoretical ideas as they are either to specialized or have already been done.

It took 3 years 2007-2010 for the "2010" futurism concept to be created and it's completly retarded. You also forgot Solar Freakin' Roadways (though that's from 2006)

Not to mention the gel fridge wasn't talked about at all in the 2010s, at least solar roadways was talked about.
Anonymous No.106954785 [Report]
tech companies dont wanna actually build anything physical, they just wanna deliver some airy fairy software product that does everything and have jeets spam shitty code to do it. pre 2008 they actually tried to push tech forward and experimented with hardware. post 2008 they just chase after software gains while nothing changes.

Heavier than air flight was obviously possible due to the existence of flying animals that are heavier than air.

The retard roadways project wasn't hyped slas science fiction or an area of research. It was presented as something that was practical right now with existing technology. Which you would have to be mentally retarded or a child to believe.

Same as every other futurism, it all leans on optimism about the future.
By 2010's things were already well on their way out and by 2013 the world had basically ended.
Culture moves with economic cycles.
The economic cycle which started in the early 80's, ended with the 2008 crash. But instead of letting things cycle and go through their natural progression or crash and recovery, they started printing at an increased rate, which has prolonged this limbo of a dead period for years.
We won't go anywhere culturally before the economy properly shits the bed and things finally cycle.
But due to the prolonged "growth" period, the crash and the recovery in the West is going to take +30 years, just like how it went with Japan after their collapse.
If you want optimistic futurism, look at Asia and soon even Latin America, as they get their growth properly going in the coming decade.

Pepper's Ghost is a century-and-a-half old technique. Tbh, I completely overlooked Glass, (as did the market), my bad. But anyway, it's not from 2013; it was announced in 2012 and prototypes were available in 2011. Further, the Glass is just a smaller version of MIT WCG prototypes, which themselves were proofs of concept of fictional devices like Dragonball's scouters (from the 80s).

I think with stuff like james bridle's new aesthetic, post-net art on tumblr, and scifi like '10s black mirror, the future morphed from a fun place into an uncanny reflection of the contemporary https://new-aesthetic.tumblr.com/archive . I think this is also due to the normalization of high quality digital cameras and photo-realistic CGI. We no longer use visual abstraction in depictions of the future. It's always already tangible. See the film Her from 2013 - the challenge of production design stops being about going crazy, but making the future seem entirely real.

there's definitely better places to put solar panels in a literal sense--open fields and shit
but blotting out the lands with solar panels is a long term retarded idea
might as well put panels on the top of soulless box scrapers and other buildings
shade provided by panels on top of the sidewalk might be inefficient due to shading but at least appreciated by people who have to walk under them
and they won't block large vehicles either
