I've just nuked a broken old kubuntu partition to reformat it with btrfs and install fedora on it.
But more importantly I'm in the process of moving most of my things to self hosted services on my home server so that my desktop becomes more and more of a bare client machine where the OS matters less and I can easily nuke it and change OS without having to go through the process of backing up and restoring all my data, constantly stressing about whether I missed something important.
And that server is already on linux (proxmox/debian), of which the management is teaching me a lot, lowering the barrier to make the switch to linux as a desktop daily driver.

Fair and thats good for a lot of stuff, but I had so many problems with ROCm on WSL, fucking kernel modules that I couldn't install, because WSL uses a virtualized Loonix kernel. I think AMD fixed that for most of their GPUs with the latest driver and ROCm 7. Also, running my homeserver on windoze using docker containers on a loonix vm kernel doesn't sound like a good idea.

As I said: I dual boot with Win10 LTSC, I'm not saying that Loonix is perfect, but I use it 95% of the time, I just boot into Windoze, when I want to play Kernel Malware Games with my friends. I switched to Loonix for the most part, because of privacy and I don't like the direction microshaft is going. And I feel much more secure on Loonix when I get my games or media from 3rd party sources via qbittorrent... I actually think 10 LTSC is decent...

i stumbled upon the concept by accident while setting up ZFSBootMenu and getting frustrated with how long it takes to set up EFIstub and the fact that the EFI boot entries would disappear whenever there's any kind of drastic disk configuration change and would need to be manually restored. i also wanted my whole disk to be ZFS only, so i can do simple whole-disk snapshots and remote backups. turned out ZFSBootMenu had a portable version, which you just put on a USB drive and set the boot priority to USB in the BIOS (USB plugged in - Linux boots. USB unplugged - Windows boots).

to give you more detail of the disk layout:

you don't have to go full ZFS, but i'm pretty sure you can still set up portable GRUB (which has a ZFS plugin). there's something called Super Grub2 Disk, which may already do everything you need it to do. ZFSBootMenu is cool, but it only boots ZFS volumes. something like GRUB on a USB drive that can scan all disks and boot Windows/ZFS root/Btrfs root, would be ideal for me.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux.
