It's also something that can be done remotely and also scales incredibly easy compared to other products. It requires few developers to create a product for a massive number of people.
All that means it's extremely easy to exploit people into taking low paying developer roles.
It's also difficult to sort between lesser skilled and higher skilled programmers into their respective roles.
