Trying to stay on top of relatives' pcs is unbearable. They refuse to switch to Linux but they also complain every time Microsoft force-installs Edge or the new Outlook PWA (rip Mail and Calendar). You can't even set a Powershell script to automatically run to remove them because they change the execution policy.

I never thought that I'd have to change OS, but this bullshit has gone too far. I'm staying on 10 and hopping to Linux when I upgrade my CPU.
I'll try to make it look like XP though. Last true white man's OS.

This is the right answer for all winfags anxious about taking the leap. Except if they auto upgrade you to 11 in your sleep. They're very cunning and untrustworthy.
Remember, Linux works on old hardware. You don't have to wait for an upgrade to install Linux. In fact, go find an old piece of shit system for $200 and install Linux on that. If you like it, migrate.

Huh? Windows 7 works with all new CPUs, all motherboards with CSM, DDR5 ram, NVMe, USB3 and GPUs up to RTX 30 series and RX 6000 series.
>soon or late
What, 20 years from now you'll have to use a 3090ti for graphics? The horror.

People are actively working on a kernel update from Windows 7. It's a great time to use it.

current gen hardware doesnt have windows 7 compatible drivers. No RX7000+, no RTX4000+, no Intel Arc, no USB 4, no ReBAR because you cant disable CSM with Windows 7, ...
Windows 7 would be awesome if someone backported drivers to it.

If you disable secureboot they "can't" auto update your PC to windows 11 cuz it is "no longer eligible".
However the real answer is just to install Win10 LTSC.

Already switched to Linux. I'm having a blast distro hopping and testing different flavors. Right now I'm leaning more towards Kubuntu or CachyOS. One thing for sure, I won't install windows 11 ever.

Linux doesn't run my collection of portable software, would require me to redo things which take many hours to set up and if one is a newfag the entire process of using Linux feels like a training course.

People quietly ran windows 8 when 10 flopped. Personally, I ran 8 since Classic Shell became a thing.

Why would you? Your advice is to install Linux and if they won't take your advice then they've decided to take matters into their own hands because they know better.

Jeet CEO tricks investors desperate to lose as much money as possible in the AI bubble with false promises of a fully automated GPT-powered Windows experience.
It really doesn't do anything useful. The jeets working for Microsoft are forced to use CoPilot not because management thinks it works but because they want to eventually replace the worker in question with the AI they/them trained.

No. I mean secureboot.
Just turn it off in the bios and MS cannot install windows 11 on your PC.
TPM works too, but for most PCs that isn't easy to just toggle on/off.
