Do they not use the shitty user interfaces that they create?

Why did Google spend thousands, possibly millions of dollars in labor costs making their UI worse?

Graphic Design is one of those fields that hit 55% female and then instantly collapsed to almost 100% female
Explains everything, go work in industry, you'll see. the UX department at my last gig was making Tiktoks on company time

Rectangles, efficiency, logical arrangement: bad, male-coded, incel
Ovals, deliberately inefficient, offensively pointless: good, female-coded, fashionable

A lot of them feel kind of sad they ended up in tech instead of fashion and "de-teching tech" is their perennial obsession

Nah, when it comes to UI design, it's not because of women or DEI. The true redpilled answer is that the biggest mistake any company can make, is having UI/UX designers as hires instead of contractors. It doesn't matter if your entire UI team is comprised of straight white males, once you hire them your UI is fucked, unless you have sane managers and supervisors keeping them on a tight leash.
UI designers believe they must keep changing things for the sake of change and fuck around ruining UIs that are already perfected, to justify their jobs.

Unfortunately UI is not made anymore based on creative decisions, they propose a couple of scenarios to refresh the appearance, then test it on groups of normies to decide which one sticks.

Imo almost everyone believes that, e.g. programmers think they need to add features, or the c++ commitee thinks they need to add features, politicians think they need to add laws etc.
Maybe you need some separate group with the sole purpose of blocking changes or removing things.
