I love Mint but I've been having a weird stutter in some webpages that don't happen in other distros.
Right now I'm rocking Fedora KDE and it seems flawless. If I knew how to fix the stutter I might have gone with Mint for good.
Maybe by the 2026 update.

On /g/, I see so many people encountering issues with Mint, but in the years I've been using Mint, I've never had any issues. It's very stable, light, and snappy. I just want my system to work. If I want to learn Linux, I can just spin up a VM.

I was going ask the same thing. How is it any less secure than any other distro I use. Is it because of Xorg? if so, boo hoo bitch.

I've only had stability issues with Cinnamon but the xfce edition has always been completely reliable.

I mean, yeah, Mint is great. I've found my problem stems from having the 6.14 kernel instead of 6.17. And maybe x11 instead of wayland. My hardware works better with the latters.
Maybe the next release of Mint will include those and I'll migrate to it in no time.
At the end of the day it's not like my system doesn't work or anything. It works and it's fine. I'm just nitpicking.

LOTS of kernel talk in here from noobs who don't understand a few things:
1. Ubuntu is an LTS distro and all Mint (save LMDE which doesn't count) are built on Ubuntu LTS
2. when a kernel is 'safe' and won't bork your system there will be an update and you can get it directly from ubuntu repo
3. if you are on "6.14" you haven't updated, mint is on like 6.8

list of reasons you need the latest kernel:

i downloaded mint today, and i saw that it still uses compiz, but this was the MATE version.

surely, mint isn't still using old software, for the bells and whistles....is it???
