Everyone talks about the taskbar burn in with OLED but I've never understood the problem. Are you not having it auto hide until you mouse over it? Why would you want half inch of your screen space stolen from you when you don't need it 99% of the time?
If anything the top quarter of the browser should be a much bigger worry. I've got a browser open all day and the top part is all one static image. It's much more annoying to hide as well. Yet I never see anyone even mention it. Feel like I'm taking crazy pills but I can't be the only one who has noticed this right?

Hi, fags,

My retired parents have an HP EliteDesk 800 G2 without a discrete graphics card, but le dad decided to relive the old days and run some AutoCAD/ProEngineer/Inventor/some-shit-I-dunno, and now he needs a GPU. What’s the format of graphics cards that’ll actually fit in his case (pic related)?

Also, today I bought this, so tell where I fucked up:

ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5070 Ti OC Edition 16GB GDDR7 TUF-RTX5070TI-O16G-GAMING
SAMSUNG 990 PRO 2TB SSD, PCIe Gen4 M.2 2280

GIGABYTE X870 GAMING WIFI6 AM5 LGA 1718, ATX, DDR5, 3x M.2, PCIe 5.0, USB4, WIFI 6, 2.5GbE LAN
CORSAIR Vengeance 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000 (PC5 48000) Desktop Memory Model CMK32GX5M2B6000Z30

Use the buying guide, PSU prices fluctuate, and they're on a rising trend.
If you can't decide, Corsair RMx PSUs are safe and of high quality.
There are OEMs like Super Flower, FSP, and SeaSonic if you want to cut the middleman.

It's mostly a quirk with DDR5, four DDR5 slots are much harder to run for the CPU's memory controller compared to DDR4.
Fully populating four DDR4 slots wasn't as detrimental.
Things might get better with Zen6.

Hi /pcbg/
I’m finalizing the parts list for my first build and would appreciate some insight from people who know more than I do.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/zKCv89
Budget is $3500. I live in the US, not within driving distance of a Microcenter. Primarily for gaming (though I care much more about performance than ray tracing), video editing, and streaming. I’m aiming for 1440p.
A couple key concerns of mine are the PSU and airflow. I want to make sure my PC will never draw more power than mu PSU can supply, but I think I’ve gone overboard with the one I’ve chosen. I’m also much more comfortable with air cooling than liquid cooling - I’ve never used a liquid cooler before and am concerned about maintainence costs, which is why I’ve elected to go with air cooling, but I’m worried about the fans I’ve selected being either poor value or ineffective for the components I’ve selected.
I’d also like to ask for advice on choosing a case. Looks are secondary to airflow for me. I’m currently torn between the Meshify 2 and Torrent, but I’m open to recommendations, especially if they perform better.

hey there /pcbg/ im coming with a couple of questions. currently have a 5700, and im looking to upgrade for better gaming performance/all around nice to haves. I've been getting some sound crashing/artifacting issues in what I've been told is a RAM access issue that could also be CPU related. my options seem to be to get a 5800X3D and keep the current AM4 platform or basically start from scratch and go AM5, likely a 7600X or 9600X but possibly a 7700X/9700X.

is Ryzen 7 that much better than 5 to justify the 100-150 price increase on processor alone? I do use my computer for gaming as well as some music production and digital art. pic related is my system.

DLSS/FSR is about resolution upscaling first and foremost. Unironically the main benefit to RTX series cards has been DLSS. Fuck Ray Tracing and all that, it's nice but not gamechanging, while DLSS is a straight up transformative performance boost with minimal image quality degradation. DLSS Balanced 1440p runs AND looks better than native 1080p TAA.

Not really on computing power or actual in game measurements. You pay the extra on the 5070TI to get the nvidia bells and whistles which may be worth it. DLSS is probably better than FSR right now, nvidia will probably actively support the 5070/TI for a lot longer, you get some path tracing... It's not a hard rule. Just a recommendation because these DDR5 AMD CPUs are easy to run at the 6000MT/s speed, and they scale better with tighter memory timings (CL30 or under for this speed).
Pic is a portion of AMD's review guideline for their Zen 5 CPUs. Basically 6000MT/s CL30 is the performance & stability sweet spot.

This is what an anon posted a couple threads ago. Basically it seems to be that 6000/30CL means the maximum speed that guarantees stability

Pretty newbie question
When builds like in pcirel have synchronized rgb fans, is that a case feature, a mobo feature, or neither?
Are all those fans connected to an extra controller that comes with the case? or does the mobo control that? or do you have to buy an adapter to control them and install that on your mobo before?

While i dont care much for how the pc looks it seems that fans with rgb are as expensive (sometimes even cheaper the fuck) than plain fans so might as well have coordinated if its about the same price.

Anonymous No.107004870 [Report] >>107004944 >>107008861

There's a few ways to do it but the most flexible one would be to plug the fans, or at least the RGB headers, into a controller and that into the RGB port on the motherboard. Then you can use software to synchronise them (some controllers have presets too). FWIW, if you don't actually want RGB you can just buy the fans and leave the RGB headers unplugged; they will function as normal.

Both single rail and multi rail are fine assuming you have a strong 12V. They only differ when you don't have enough amps or watts. Single rail will fail catastrophically as it's only one rail and everything is connected to it. With multi rail if one of the rails goes bad the system will shut down before disaster but this also means its more sensitive to transient spikes.

What's the cheapest, most appropriate, ideally second hand, mobo+cpu+ram combo to pair with an RX 570? It's currently on an i5-4440 and three mismatched sticks of DDR3, with the lowest common denominator among them being 1333MHz.
All I want to keep from it is the case (it's a case), the 600W PSU (80+ Gold, forgot the brand) and the RX 570 (handles pre-2020 games just fine).
Usecase would be Linux gaming and retro emulation on a living room TV at 1080p.
Upgradeability is also a plus, as in, the CPU being powerful enough to handle a newer AMD GPU.

>Nearly decade-old

Anyway, $300 isn't going to get you a noticeably better card unless you really want AI upscaling tech. On the CPU side it's easier; could do a 5500, 5600, or (used) 5*00X3D depending on just how much you're willing to drop. May be valuable if you mostly play autism sim games etc. but you'd probably want to do both at once if you're more into AAAs.

a 5500 or 5600/x or more expensive 5700/5800x3d (those will most likely be prohibitively expensive), any b450 or b550 mobo, 16gb of 3200 ram

Then again I ALSO see a 12100F + H610 + 2x8GB 3200MHz for 140 euro, which looks like a great deal actually?

if you are looking for the most juice out of 300$ you are looking for a 2nd hand 5600 or 5600x and then whatever money you have left is to be put together towards a new gpu. For the gpu i would wait till black friday in case you can get them a bit cheaper but i wouldnt pick anything below a 9060xt 16gb or as the anon above me said a 5060TI (more expensive). C5 does not have a new Tandememe panel
No 165hz
Way less color gamut
Way less light out put, you get like 400-500 nits SDR sustained on G5 vs 200-280 full screen on a C5. 2400 nit 10% hdr highlights vs 1100
No 5 year panel warranty on C5 vs G series

If you don't need brightness maybe you could just buy a S90D and get better color volume instead, even better than G5.... still

The whole point of these TVs is to HDRmaxx, but yeah they are way better than monitors anyway regardless

or also look for open box S95D/S90D/S90F with a scratched screen you can just peel off the coating, or get them not fucked up to that extent for cheap

but if you can get a larger C5 over a smaller G5 maybe idk? has to be 55 vs 77+ or something at that point

if you need even less brightness a B4 77" is like cheaper than ass I can buy them right now for 1180€ ish

HDD failures for consumers is pretty low because most if them aren't used that much.
Even at 4% annualized failure rate (really high), the chance your HDD still works after 50,000 working hours is 80%
50,000 working hours can be 10+ years depending on use per day and even with this bad case your HDD likely is still going to be working then not.

In a DC/Hyperscale situation, these numbers can equate to tens if not hundreds of failures per DAY. If they could swap to SSDs they would instantly.

nothing wrong with staying on am4 other than the lack of upgrades and spending money on a dead platform, the cpu on the am 5 isnt that far ahead of a 5800x3d if ahead at all. The faster ram and newer mobo would be cool tho,

Unfortunately I'm about to move on from it (just need to copy my stuff over to new PC) because it doesn't have secure boot and it's required for Battlefield 6. Don't even have space to keep it despite it working fine which is a shame.

? What are you talking about? Secure boot is a motherboard feature, and every motherboard that supports UEFI also supports secure boot. There are videos on youtube of people playing Battlefield 6 using Ryzen first generation CPUs.

I'm looking for a larger/ergo mouse to claw grip. I dislike the size of normal claw grip mice since they're too small for me. At least thats how they feel, a bit too constraining, I guess. Does anyone have recommendations for me? My hands are 18x10cm.

Will the 9700X be good enough for the first tasks in your view? I could easily afford a 9900X but it's not really good value at its current price in my country.

If it's the original Aorus Gen4 it's cheap because it's a 1st gen PCIe4 drive. Basically a PCIe3 model with a PCIe4 bus. Still more than enough for the anon's requirements but tbf so is the SN7100.

Does anyone use RX 9060 XT and play CS2 on Linux? I have a gaming laptop and thinking about building a budget PC with the GPU and an AMD CPU, but wondering how would this game work there. On my gaming laptop with Nvidia driver I can see clearly differences in fps in favor of Windows, wondering whether there's a difference in fps between AMD GPU

Don't go Gigabyte since they still use paste. Look for ones that specifically state they use PTM7950 (basically Sapphire, Powercolor and XFX). Taichi and Nitro+ are dubious because of the connector as the other anon already mentioned.

You probably want to compare the random reads (IOPS) of the two. Going by the spec sheets the 990PRO is a bit better at 1200 vs. 1000 but they might both be high enough to where it doesn't matter.
If you do get slowdowns you should also consider some tiered storage (RAMdisk, 3D Xpoint/Optane) if the bottleneck is confirmed to be in the IO speed. Point being that NAND flash hits diminishing returns on random IO. Consider also the CPU if these images/thumbnails are constantly being modified.

Thank you. Since I have folders with more than 2.5k videos/documents/videos which are edited and implemented almost daily, do you think that I should consider the 9900X instead of the 9700X? I'm looking for a fast, reliable CPU for constant, stressing desktop workloads.

I would say so if you can afford it. I'd maybe even say go Intel if your editing software uses QuickSync. Kind of depends on how much time you spend doing each thing. At a certain point this all just becomes a business decision; "how long will X investment take to pay off?".
