In order: standard-dark, standard-light, standard-dark-tinted, modus-vivendi, modus-vivendi-tinted. And if I'm feeling adventurous I use an ef-theme (usually ef-trio-light or ef-winter).
Prot's themes really have no competition desu. It wouldn't surprise me if standard-light becomes the default theme eventually.

I used to use ef-day, but switched to modus-operandi-tinted because it's built-in.
It's a huge pain in the ass to make an Emacs theme and I'm not sure making a truly good one (not just palette-wise) is possible at all.

doric dark's colors looks nice but the bold/italic shit looks terrible. his modus-operandi-tinted theme is much nicer, which i use when i want a light theme. it is so easy to write an emacs theme that i just ended up writing my own dark one that uses mostly soft desaturated green colors against almost black.
