I'm not a /tpg/ guy, but from what i understand their meme, the only good shit about those computers is the laptop. What would be the actual usecase of using an old thinkpad with an external keyboard? Bonus (malus?) points for placing it on top of the laptop keyboard for maximum mis-ergonomy.

Its basically just 2 setups next to each other. One is my pc for gaming and photo editing and the other connects to my work laptop. I dont want to connect the laptop hub to my monitors as then both cant be used at the same time which happens a fair amount depending on how light the workload is

What would be the best desk position in this room for someone with chronic claustrophobia (myself) while also being OCD-friendly?

It feels like the most aesthetically pleasing positions along the straights makes me feel too boxed in, while planting my desk directly by the balcony window has me getting annoyed by the grandma curtains and slanted ceiling to my right.

Am I just SOL or can I remedy this somehow?

I'm not saying buy a desk from ikea, but if you go to their site you can rip the GLB files they use for the 3D previews of objects. They're scaled correctly with real world units. I measured my room with a laser measurer, made a blender render, then I was able to import and move the ikea objects around until I found a setup I liked. It was great ordering the shit and then having everything just fit. I live in a tiny house though with a narrow stairwell, so all my furniture has to be flat-pack

Funny, considering I shamefully have been making due with a Melltorp 125x75cm as my desk as seen in the picture last thread (the replies to which I still haven't gotten to). I'm still looking for the models as I'm writing so yeah, I do plan to put it in my model of my room.

I actually originally intended to put two of them side by side on the balcony wall, but have frozen that for now to see if I can get better at space management. Though I did appreciate having a workbench table of sorts next to my computer for things like parts and whatnot.

Honestly not that often, maybe 3-4 times a week. What was really annoying is some old lady with dementia called me every day around noon. She was missdialing the former "boys home" which was one digit off from mine. It closed, more than 20 years ago. I could tell her she had the wrong number, and that the boys home closed decades ago and she would just think it was one of the foster kids playing a prank on her. She would call back the next day.

Ironically, I get more spam calls on my work issued cell phone which is a government number. It gets 2-3 calls a day that are clearly bogus.

i guess maybe it causes eye strain, neck strain, etc. for some people, but i've been able to do VR sessions of 6-8 hours straight with maybe 1-2 5 minute breaks, without any more problems than i'd get from doing the same at a regular desk, save for slight neck soreness

upsides and downsides i guess, but they really are becoming comparable as far as practicality goes

Numpad has a place in gaming and that is to the left of the keyboard. I have a wireles numpad for that as well as the streamdeck. But macros on a numpad are a lot more annoying to configure than a Streamdeck so it is mostly for freelook while flying/driving/milsim.
Full keyboards are for work. Given I'm work as a lead engineer for a multi-state government datacenter I cannot have a full keyboard at my desk because it feels like I'm at work.

Still work in progress though, the room at least. The back wall will get a curtain a few centimeters from the wall to hide the wall and also need to do proper power cable management, it's just extensions running everywhere right now.
