The reason why AI is inherently unprofitable is because there is no moat. The only moat is having better AI model, but better AI models don’t mean anything when every week there is new top AI model and 3 weeks from release someone already distilled your model with their cheaper one and made it open weights. Lot of the current companies are selling bellow the actual of their models because that is their only way of making people dependent on their data centres instead of renting some other server and running there their open source model. This industry is just faking profits. However what industry will be profitable will be the robotics industry because they have actual product that has economies of scale making copying them unviable.

I don't know much a bubble, but I do think it's telling how companies are still scrambling to find actual use cases for this technology. It's never a good sign when companies have to invent and sell fixes for issues people never really had to begin with. It's like the AI industry is one big infomercial right now.
