Trannies don't know design, best they can do is rewrite C++ functions in Rust.

Because your definition of "not ugly" is a half-assed unpolished fisherprice UI

Being ugly is fine, being ugly, bloated and buggy is not fine and that's what we are dealing with here.
Anonymous No.107071745 [Report] >>107072123

It looks fine.

Having said that, theming is a mess right now. Breeze has 5 different implementations (Plasma, QWidget apps, desktop QML apps, mobile QML apps and GTK) that have to all been modified to have a consistent look.

As of now there’s the Union project that would allow to theme applications and the desktop in CSS, but it’s far from complete.

There’s also a Breeze replacement in the works (called Ocean), but they’re waiting for Union.

How about you just make it look good by default instead of requiring me to tinkertranny with it.

Applets look nice on riced KDE systems but I always get debilitating anxiety when installing a distro that uses KDE because I'm overwhelmed by the amount of menus and customization options there are. It's the complete opposite of gnome that has too little customization, KDE has too much.
Anonymous No.107072607 [Report]
>>107072221
The worst part are the bad defaults. I think to this day I still have to set Numlock to activate after login.
The System Settings are terribly organized too. This is one place they should take a lesson from Mac and (unfortunately) Gnome (without the stupid "usecase?" philosophy though)

It is fuckugly because they struggle with padding between elements. And that is something you aren't easily able to change unless you fuck around with stuff like Kvantum. It looks like dogshit because most themes actually look the same. Most themes look the same because the simple things to "rice" are things like fucking window borders and buttons, fonts and colors and nothing other than that. Wow you can choose an accent color guys. You can choose between transparent blur, blurry transparency and non-opaque smudgy? Man the customization.

Now that Plasma 6.6 will allow getting rid of frame lines (along with a bunch of visual polish), which new excuse should we to complain?

It's the MIUI of desktops. And I used to think that was deepin alone.
Nothing original about it. Looks like a chinese knockoff. There's nothing great about it, it's like some people behind this project are looking at what others do and trying to put it all in there in a broken fashion. There's way too many features no one asked for. A floating taskbar? Is this 2010? Do we need to fill the desktop with clock and weather widgets too? Make everything dark like my soul? Half the themes are "macOS current version" or "Windows current version plus". It's gaymery as fuck and I mean, it makes sense, most windows gaymer tourists end up using a distro with this installed by default. It gives that "I'm poor" vibe when you show it around. I am sorry I cannot take any Plasma user seriously. I'm not even a footfag here, I don't think they got it right either. But people are here pretending that it looks good.

I haven't used Linux or visited /g/ for 6 years and it's been really funny coming back and seeing that NOTHING has changed in these 6 years. In fact, it's gotten worse. It's hilarious but also sad. Retarded /g/ neckbeards are still seething and accomplishing nothing while the real issues have not been resolved.

Anonymous No.107077944 [Report]
>>107077915
Flatpak is a step forward for sure, but it doesn't solve the main issue with software distribution on linux, which is (lack of) portability of packages and forwards / backwards compatibility.
