cfg isn't about color, it's about control. it's how hard you're asking it to grip the steering wheel of explicit token following* to force it to follow a more rigid path versus allowing the model to make it's own decision in navigating the curves and bumps of the road. high cfg = rails, low cfg = river.
ldg poster's example isn't wrong, but it's not right because you can't see the effects of cfg in just one gen. over a large number, there will be more variance with respect to the prompt than with a higher cfg.
*think of tokens like magnets, some attract and some repel. if you put a lot of magnets together, they're going to start affecting each other and wanting to flip, cluster, etc, and it'll take more effort to keep all of them in their specified orientations. you can try to force it with higher cfg, but it comes at a cost.

CFG is very weird. Let's leave aside that we're doing latent diffusion for a bit and imagine we're working in grayscale pixel space. So when you start a diffusion step, you have a (somewhat, depending on what step) noisy image i and afterwards you have a denoised image i'. We condition this denoising step on our prompt, so the model knows what the output should look like:

i' = step(i, prompt)

That's how it works without CFG, but our models aren't good enough to give nice images without CFG, so we have to use it. What is CFG? It's not that hard. We have a second prompt, the unconditional conditioning. Originally it was intended to be just empty, but these days we put things in there we don't like and call it the negative prompt, but that doesn't always work too well. The reason is that CFG is weird. What happens is:

i_c = step(i, prompt)
i_uc = step(i, negative_prompt)

So we have two less noisy images, both derived from the previous step's output and conditioned on either the prompt or the negative prompt. We're assuming they're just grayscale pixel images. Perhaps our prompt is "1girl", and our negative prompt is "ugly dog", so i_c will look a bit more like 1girl and i_uc will look a bit more like an ugly dog.

Now we do CFG:

i' = (i_c - i_uc) * cfg_scale + i_uc

We subtract the slightly more ugly dog image from the slightly more 1girl image, then we amplify the difference between the pixels and add this amplified difference back to the slightly more ugly dog image. The idea is to push away from a generic/unconditioned generation towards the one we want. But we're doing it to the pixels. That's super weird, but it works. Doing it to VAE latents is just as weird, just harder to imagine. So that's why the colors fry when you use a high CFG scale, you add the difference and multiply it by a high number, so the contrast gets stronger every step. It's also why it doesn't always work well as a negative prompt. It will subtract one specific ugly dog that it might have steered towards, but if there's a different looking ugly dog lurking in your image, it might not get hit by the subtraction.

Yes, it supports all Noob/Illustrious models (and also SDXL, SD1.5, Flux, Chroma and most recently Qwen).

There's lots of different ways to inpaint with Krita, depending on how autistic you want to get with context and regional prompting, but the simplest way is to go to Live Mode, select the part of the image you want to inpaint (you can be sloppy here, I usually just user a box or circle selection), then change your prompt accordingly and move the denoising slider up and down and/or randomize the seed until you get a result you like. Paste the result in on a new layer and erase what you don't want. You can do this with the same model you use for regular generation. Krita inpainting always adds a bit more around your selection to blend it in, so remember to deselect before trying to erase stuff. And if the inpainted section still stands out as incongruous after erasing, it might help to do a 5-10% denoise over the whole image in Live Mode with a different seed.

If you need to inpaint at a higher resolution, make a selection but in Generate Mode and pull the strength slider down so that you can Refine. Then click on the arrow next to Refine and move the resolution slider up to 1.5x. Again you'll want to play with different strength settings to get what you want. Once you get a result you like, you can add it as a new layer and erase the parts you don't want.

I find these processes a lot easier and more dynamic than inpainting in other UIs where you have to carefully mask things and fiddle with settings every time, but also I have a drawing tablet so that makes the erasing stuff easier.

It also helps to prepare the part of the canvas you want to inpaint. Just blobbing in vaguely correct shapes in the correct color goes a long way, but it also helps to learn how to use the Clone Brush and Smart Patch tools.
