This operating system feels cold, sterile, uncomfortable to use. It has a chaotic, angular design reminiscent of hostile architecture. Why did Microsoft abandon humanist design principles for their user interfaces?

It's a clunky monstrosity at this point. I hate having a windows box in my home, but my family does retarded windows stuff, and I don't want to do 24 hour linux tech support for everyone.

I find the more I use Windows, the less I understand what it is doing. I don't know why it decides to hang arbitrarily doing basic tasks, I don't understand why it is using so many resources and randomly spiking my network usage, I don't understand the inconsistent design principles, it is an OS that just gets more difficult to comprehend the more you use it.

Just get the "Fedora Everything" Installer, just select "KDE Plasma" and you will have a cold, sterile and uncomfortable system. BUT then you just follow the RPM-Fusion guide and build your system from there on, it will turn into a nice, warm and comfy system <33333

What "humanist design principles" are you talking about?

The grayness and harsh bevels of Windows 9x UIs reminded me of brutalist architecture on an overcast day. I didn't miss it much after switching to Windows XP in the early 2000s. I'm convinced most people who love it today are zoomers who were born after Microsoft stopped using it and were never forced to endure it on a daily basis.

i couldn't imagine owning a windows machine today. not as a home/personal computer
for a work computer you basically don't have a choice, depending on industry, but for home? why would anyone not just own a mac? or linux if you're a nerd

This but unironically
It's your loss, you will never experience seeing vista/7 for the first time as a child/teen. It looked so modern and nice.
Flat shit was never impressive, nor did it look nice. Just low effort.
