No you weren't. I know you don't actually use it because it works fine. Plasma 6.x has been stable and even 5.x worked on my machine. I encountered more problems with windows than any Linux desktop. Back when I used Windows 10, when that was the latest thing, I would make it habit of just reinstalling once a year to avoid Windows rot.

Yes, Fedora and all its software is open source. They even go the extra mile to avoid shipping proprietary media codecs (which you can install yourself).
From a merely Openess standpoint, Fedora is very ahead of Ubuntu(canonical). If your worries stem from Red Hat glowing then just avoid RHEL which is their real OS for corpo shit.

Your choice of desktop environment will probably be more impactful on your linux experience than your choice of distro unless you go for something like Arch, and even that is mostly just a larger initial cliff to climb before you end up in the same place. People are insanely autistic about distros but they're 90% doing the same shit in slightly different ways and you have to get down to very specific use cases before a specific distro can't meet your needs.

None of them are demanding your loyalty you can hop to another whenever you want if you think a particular one is shit . Unlike the transition from windows to linux you don't have to find alternatives for all of your packages, only a few. If you stick with the same desktop environment switching is even easier. People will get into endless autism wars over whether you're typing apt or dnf in the terminal to do the same commands.

The number of linux distros could increase tenfold over the next decade and people would still tell you that we are six months from a company finally planting its roots deep enough to seize the entirety of free software, and that it's all personally your fault because picked X as a daily driver over the more free Y and signed a deal with the devil that has doomed us all. Half the time they aren't even right about how free or non-free something is as you can already see with people thinking Fedora is some closed source Windows esque distro or government honeypot just because it's related to a large company.

Now that you have read this you no longer have to click on another linux thread on /g/ ever except for going to the friendly general specifically only to answer or ask helpful questions.

I think picking Bazzite or Nobara doesn't make a difference. I've been using Bazzite for a while now, and Nobara before that, and both get the job done. Only difference I could think of is that Nobara is a one-man project while Bazzite has a whole team behind it, so make of that what you will.

I have used Nobara however, the package management with the GUI is not something I particularly enjoy, but it's a solid distro.

No. dnf is slow literally unusable. Used to host a tor relay on fedora server, it wasn't bad. But I used it as a desktop for about 2 days, I hated every minute. Artix (OpenRC) is much better. With dwm of course non of that DE shit

Well I suppose it's because Fedora is a happy medium between Debian (older but stable) and Arch (new but edge). It is backed by a large corporation, Red Hat, which gives it a small sense of warranty, like Ubuntu with Canonical. But Canonical has made quite a few fuckups with Ubuntu in the last decade so many people have lost their faith in it.
Red Hat isn't a saint either but for the most part Fedora seems to be kept on the clear.

the only thing atomic fedora does over the workstation edition is giving you seamless updates with rpm-ostreed-automatic, literally only selling point for me as I'm not retarded enough to broke my distro and can always fix boot or configuration problems so the rollback function is pretty useless as doesnt solve bootloader problems (most annoying issue when recovering a broken os) like when changing disks or installing winblows
problem is updating was never fedora's weak point, all issues that makes it worse than debian are still there, mainly being a buggy test-bed, regressions (that ostree rollbacks just delay but you just have to workaround or change workflow as they almost never get fixed), anemic repos, no antifeatures patching, all ibm corposlop unfiltered.
if anything it makes harder to fix these problems, I guess custom ublue images addresses few concerns but the rpm packages are still fedora's
give me debian atomic and then we are talking, using sid packages would be painless

also you need to add the overlay in silverblue because rh is pushing the inferior toolbox, derivatives ship it tho
maybe for normalfags is enough, but it's not really cleaner than traditional distros when you have to install too many overlayed things like qemu (required a silverblue specific workaroud to fix group permission of libvirt) and basic cli stuff that don't make sense in a distrobox (nmap udp broken, probably fixable with privilegied containers but didn't bother)

The thing about atomic is it is better to use it with nontech people and normies, because the chances of them messing the system up is minimal.
Fedora packages can be used among all architectures, and their official flatpaks are based on the rpm packages and can be installed on all supported platforms too.
Flathub is x86_64 mostly, and there is not enforcemente to add other architectures.
I will keep using non atomic Fedora for a long time, but it has been obvious atomic is the present/future for five years now.
