>fastest file manager on linux when changing folders, the most fast and instant loading and transfering of any file manager on linux and the best file manager on linux
>fastest application launching, most apps like thunar, settings, task manager take between 20-30 milliseconds vs 300-500 milliseconds on KDE(AKA half a second)
>easy to customize and just werks, stable and easy to use and understand as a new user

I've been using Manjaro XFCE for 9 months, it's my first time using any Linux distro. So far, I've had no crash, nothing broken, nothing unsupported, it works fine and smooth and my hardware is ancient.

you'll need the mouse to interact with most of the software, if the argument is not using the mouse to interact with the DE, shortcuts remove that need, you can tile manually.

why tile manually when I could do it automatically? so much more work.
I do use a mouse when I have to or when I play games but I can do most things in the terminal or without a mouse.
having to drag windows around all the time is anoying when 90% of the time I either want a pr0gram fullscreen or halfscreen.

xfeces has been slowly going the way of nu-gnome with its design choices. Inconsistent menus and UI, inconsistent icons (like tray icons being symbolic instead of using your icon theme), I even noticed recently that Thunar has rounded borders on icon highlight, which looks horrible.

Switched from XFCE to KDE a fear years back due to XFCE's lack of resources for implementing wayland support.
The resource usage is pretty much identical, so I see no reason to go back.
Kinda wish I made the switch sooner.

Wayland is the new display system on loonix. On wayland only the focused/highlighted app can read your keystrokes. It's great for security, but this zero trust policy is also annoying for harmless stuff like global hotkeys, but they implemented portals where an app is strictly defined what I can and cannot do.

the one thing I really like about MATE is that it's the single DE I know of that has a shortcut to switch to the last used workspace. got used to having that on WMs and no DEs aside from MATE have it without extensions and I find that insane. I also find it's lighter in general.

fired mate on a live, and genuinely, its defaults mogs xfce and any other DE out there, looks effortless fine too.
the downsides would include the lack of compatible custom themes and customisability.

Manjaro is absolute trash. It's like all the bad parts of Arch without any of the good parts. And the bad parts are even worse because they arbitrarily hold upstream packages hostage for 2 weeks which can cause AUR packages to break. It's beyond retarded. People think manjaro is "arch with an easy GUI installer," but it's just a dogshit distro all around. Just use archinstall if you want an easy arch installation

before that i thought every theme/w. decoration that was made to xfce worked on mate, but unfortunately its not the case.

I like XFCE. I am currently using KDE because it has more features, more development effort behind it, functional wayland. To be honest, I can't really go without some features on a modern desktop, which I don't know if I could get on XFCE or not because I don't have the time or patience to tinker. But I really like the idea of a fast simple no bloat desktop like XFCE. If KDE goes off the rails like Gnome did, and maybe even if they don't, I might switch some day.
