I'm DONE with Ubuntu. I've been using it since 16.04 but I got tired of their bullshit, bugs and corposhit they're trying to push. I'm wiping my drive and starting again with a new one. I'm wondering if I should go with Linux Mint or Arch + KDE. Mint sounds like a good choice because it's preconfigured so it won't waste my time. But since I'm a GAMER I'll be using Steam a lot, and since Valve itself went with Arch+KDE for their steam deck, I think I might have less issues in the future. What do, /g/?

is this the famous distro where if you uninstall Firefox it deletes the whole desktop environment?

Go with Arch or CachyOS. You may think you won't waste time configuring Mint but that's just when you install. You'll have the same problems as Ubuntu. With Arch based distros you configured yourself and it's vanilla so you will have less problems.

Also with arch script or CachyOS UI installer, you can just pick KDE and it will install it for you.

i don't know about that but currently i can't even download the fucking arch iso because transmission-gtk doesn't have access to any folder in my filesystem (thanks to apparmor, i guess)

I've been using 'Buntu since 18.04 and just upgraded to 25.10. No issues for me

Linux Mint works fine from what I've seen. Bazzite (an immutable Fedora based distro) is designed for gamers and has a lot of creature-comforts pre-installed. I'd avoid bleeding-edge distros like Arch if you dislike bugs.

Arch + awesome (or any other window manager) or Debian + xfce are the only options I'll ever use again, the only issues I've had with these were my own stupidity/hubris

nobody cares about your one-man hobby "distro" flavor of the month that will die when the main dev gets bored and buys a macbook

cachyos
arch doesn't offer anything that cachyos already has unless you need the ego boost of following a guide and "knowing how your system works" as if reading the guide page doesn't explain it already

Nobara is a great choice for my opinion as linux user since mandrake 8.2 (perhaps you not even born)
For gaming/for coding/general use
You have codecs, you have tested packages in repo (and it not fedora, nobara has own), all works fine.

Linux mint for you because you're a gamer. Otherwise I'd suggest Debian.

Just use Mint + xfce :)

is that feasible? I thought gnome was deeply integrated with distros like Pop OS and Mint
that's the reason why I installed Manjaro Xfce yesterday, but now when I look it up, I see r*dditors complaining all over the place about Manjaro (something about expired SSL certs and AUR sucking a few years ago or some shit)
I just want to game on Linux and found Manjaro first when looking for a distro with Xfce

I'm running 25.10 and I torrented Florence's new album and it worked, but I did notice right clicking the torrent and selecting "open file location" didn't work. Nautilus just didn't open. I wonder if this bug is why
