I paid $15 in API and just found out it would be much more expensive than I initially thought because every fucking call is independent. Every single message you send is like deleting the old chat and starting a new one all over again with the context appended before.

If you're running a local model and feed it a text file for it to memorize that is 8k tokens long and then send the model the message "hi" 10 times, you've sent 8k tokens total. Do the same shit on API, and you've just used up 80k instead. Fuck my life, why does it work like that? That's so stupid.
