If you live in europe do yourself a favor and dont use thomann, twice have they sent me faulty products and refused to refund. Literally just stick with alixpress or local stores.

So I discovered my Ziigaat Doscinco came damaged upon delivery. One of the filters is "smashed" and the right ear bud sounds really shrill. I asked to return it to Linsoul under warranty for repair (or preferably to get a new one) and this is what they said:
>"We sincerely request that you return the earphones to China for inspection and repair. It's important to note that when shipping the package back to China, customs duties may be levied, and according to our policy, these charges will be the responsibility of the sender, that is, you."

So not only do I have to pay shipping back to China, I also have to pay duties and taxes when they arrive in China, and then I have to pay shipping back to the US once again. All because they sent me broken earphones.

Every IEM is a minimum phase device. Driver is not important, all are close enough to minimum phase. Drivers do not have timbres. Multi-driver hybrid with good crossover will sound like 1DD.
Modern IEMs has very low THD. This means FR is everything. FR = IR and vice versa. You can change IR in arbitral way with EQ. If IEM has tonality you like, it is the endgame. "Techs" or "technical performance" or "driver speed" are mental illness and it is needful to heal it in mental hospital.
Harman is neutral. The current Harman target for IEM, Harman IE 2019, is the most preferred target by people. Sean Olive said that preferred = neutral, and it is the opinion said by scientist, this means it is scientific opinion and all opinions different are pseudoscientific opinion.
Does it mean that V-shape, warm, bright, bassy and others are neutral when somebody like this? Theoretically it is true, but in practice nobody like that targets. Everybody like Harman. This means Harman is neutral.
CCA CRA is the best IEM in history. It haves the best driver quality, made from PU. You need nothing more. It is the same as in Wankers. As I written on the top, every IEM is a minimum phase device. This drivers have expectional bass and treble extension. That makes it the best.

Neutral means whatever sound signature you're used to.

People pick out Harman in tests because when you listen to a dark tuning for 10 seconds and then increase brightness, people will think "wow, it sounds clearer, that means it's better".

However, ask people to spend a week with a darker tuning and then a week with a Harman tuning, and the results will likely be a lot different.

Bit of a blog: Last time I spent so much in audio gear was with my HD650s like 10 years ago, which I used every day. I heavily prefer iems for comfort, but back then most pos were overpriced garbage so I never bothered to look into the market again until recently, and the Mays convinced me iems were now good. Still had my Shures 215s.

KZ makes pretty good single DD products. My ED9 pro is as good as it gets for the "metal bullet" IEMs (a huge upgrade to the Ling Long), but it has to have the balanced nozzle installed.

I still think the Gate is the shitbud king. A balanced but safe Harman tuning, and very comfortable. Works well with all music, but cymbals occasionally sound muffled.

The KZ ATE has extreme unit variation, much more than any modern KZ products.

The one I had (018NBM) always sounded neutral-bright with very restrained bass, and the reviews describing it as a basshead IEM never made sense to me. It's almost diffuse neutral tuning.

I don't know my ear canal size, but it's probably quite small/thin (and long). I can't wear nozzles wider than 5.8mm. I have Ziigaat Doscincos (ordered mesh filters to reduce upper mids and treble). Those nozzles are 6mm at the lip, and the lip is in the middle of nozzle (and not at the tip which is the most common). So with all the tips I've tried, I can't get the nozzles deep into my ears. I've tried small size silicon tips.

I was considering the Tanchjim tips that was posted above. They have two variations. One is 8.2mm long and the other is 9mm. So will the 9mm allow for a deeper fit, or will they just push the nozzles further away from the ear drum and cause more treble spikes?

I think the nozzle is about 4mm long.

the tanchjim ones are shorter than average so they might work. my go-to short tips are the coffee ones (whizzer ss20, kbear something, etc. they go by a lot of names) and the trn t tips. both very short and they can also fit larger nozzles

I was liking my KZ ZS10 PRO 2s during the month prior to the left one abruptly dying for no reason. I rate the original ZS10 PROs as well, but they're not as good for that upper mid and treble clarity.

Any recommendations for similar stuff within a $150 budget? Don't need the stupid EQ switches or anything, just a similar sound with the harsher/clearer top end etc. Bonus points for similar build aesthetics to the KZs ie. fake metallic looks, minimal rounded edges.

Aria 2s tuning is good by default. No reason to fuck it up with autoEQ. Maximum what you'd need to do is to add a bit more mids (around 1.5-2dB around 500 Hz) and EQ out length modes.
