In terms of "shitty large corporations with too much power", Microsoft is probably near the bottom of the list when it comes to ones that personally affect me. You can simply just not use their services and that avoids 99% of the problem. It's like Google, for example, which has ubiquitous tracking over the web you have to actively fight.
