Most of the country is still poor, living in filth, and a good deal are still living in early 20th century conditions (ie not necessarily any electricity or indoor plumbing), you can sort of compare this to Appalachia in America. They only show you the nice, shiny cities where everything is clean because they put so much effort into making them appear that way while the rest of the country gets neglected. It's like the guy down the street with the nice car and the shitty house, it's about appearances.

In order for there to be a 'AI Race' there must be some ending condition.

If we had a card as powerful as a million NVIDIA RTX 6000s combined into a single card, what would that be able to achieve that we can't do with our current technology?
