/XPG/ - Windows XP general
A thread dedicated to Windows XP.
>Why?
Its very lightweight operating system that can be run just fine on potato hardware, including the one from late 90s/early 2000s. Its also Windows, so you have a decent software compatibility and offlline setup that can be re-created very easily. Its also one of the last unkiked Windows versions that does not force you into any ecosystem and is still better than linux in many ways.
>Will I get hacked?
No, you will not. Hackers cannot reach your computer through NAT unless you allow them to do so. This is a lie, often repeated by linux trannies and baby duck schizo. You can safely ignore their mumbling.
>What about software compatibility?
A fair share of software thats actually worth your time works natively. Many programs have been back-ported to XP and projects like one core api allow you to run new programs on it.

XP bloats up incredibly fast and your installation becomes unusable pretty quick if you aren't careful, this is the case with all windows versions but it was BAD in xp and only made better in 7
XP is worse than 7 in all respects

You should list Newmoon and Kmeleon in the Op for non-SSE2 processors.

Also, here's a fork of yt-dlp for XP https://github.com/nicolaasjan/yt-dlp

There's also an extension called Vorapis, which is useful for making Youtube's desktop site tolerable on older processors that can't handle its normal amount of javascript.

Is the old windows shilling genuine or just chinks/russians trying to get as many people as possible onto vulnerable OSes?

I like using old windows versions because I just like old tech, but I think op might be a schizo. They tend to have obsessions like that and try to do stuff like forcing a general for a topic only three or four people on a board care about.

I really appreciate 7, but it was that windows version when they gradually started introducing various anti-features, like the requirement for driver signing. It was also slightly heavier, and its activation algorithm was not cracked yet. Not saying that 7 is bad obviously, but I prefer XP, thats why I made a thread for it.
>>107132698
thanks, will try doing so in the next thread.

Again, you will not get hacked by the mere fact of using old windows. You would have to directly expose it to the internet or purposefully download malware. Neither will happen as long as you are not retarded. The whole chinese/russian botnet is mostly linux tranny fear mongering tactic to bully people into (((transitioning))) to troonix. Old Windows are pretty much the best of both world. You have freedom, you have convenient software and you don't have to chop your dick off.

I know. I use old Windows versions every day. I'm saying you're acting like a schizo by making daily threads and trying to force a general for a topic that never reaches bump limit.

Use XP Pro SP3 and the cracked phone activator (called XPactivate32), you can either slipstream all the updates into the iso, or use Legacy Update to install all the security updates. Best place to get ISOs (and most software) is archive.org.

Those nuwindows releases decorated as old ones are kinda like trannies. They try really hard to be something that they will never be, but they will always trigger your uncanny valley since something will obviously be off.

Vulnerability isn't strictly limited to network reachability. Your web browser is basically a remote code execution machine. Malicious JavaScript running in your web browser can connect to services running locally on your computer or other internal hosts on your network...
Another zero day was discovered for Chrome a couple weeks ago. It was being exploited in the wild. Are you all patched up?

blatant tranny updooter lie, if it was the case, most personal computers with up to doot software would get constantly hacked as well. Maybe at least make your fear mongering tactics more believable, tranny updooter.

By short, do you mean half height? Or do you mean doesn't have that GTX 980 style overhang on the right side of the motherboard?

For half height, you can try to track down a half height GTX 750, or you can use an R7 250. The latter is dirt cheap and can be had for for a around ten dollars.

If you just mean no overhang, full height GTX 750s (non-ti) are pretty common, failing that, a full height r7 250 is again your best option. If you can't find a 750, you can try a 740 or a 650.

These should all give you relatively modern video codec support alongside opengl 4.X support. No DX11, obviously. And they should give about the same performance as more era appropriate high end cards

If you want driver support, the only option is to run it in a VM. Otherwise, you can mess around in your bios settings and patch the ISO to make it boot, then install it with no drivers. Best you can do is some generic universal USB 3 and SATA drivers alongside a universal VBE video driver. Then you can use MESA to render any HW accelerated games on the CPU.

You can create a bootable usable using nlite, but I'd probably just invest in a USB DVD drive so I could play games from disc if I were you. And at that point might as well install windows from a burned CD as well.

The cutoff is generally the R9 200 and GTX 700 series. Some 900 series Nvidia cards work by modded drivers, as do some R9 300 cards. Some R9 200 series cards don't have driver support on XP at all, so the last AMD gen that 100% of which works are the HD 7000 series.

Intel HD graphics have drivers up until the last model I believe. Don't know about UHD though.
