The company I worked for asks us to start working from the offices,
we are a small team of 12 people, cramped in a small building.
I am THE ONLY ONE who still masks up (double N95),
it is 2025 and Covid19™ is still rampant infecting and killing people....

I've raised my concerned to HR to enforce masking in the office, but they say they just can't do it, and if I want I should just ask the people in a personal level to do it involuntarily. I've asked a few people that they scoffed and laughed, they looked at me as if I was crazy.

One guy asked me how many vaccines have I gotten?
I told him 7, and he laughed?? why??

I am literally riddled with anxiety every time I go to work,
should I just quit,
What to do?

I tried it out and I have to say, some of you may hate me for this, but I'm saying it anyway, it's actually quite useful! I can see myself using this daily. It performs much better than my mother. However the last "y" in your logo is misaligned vertically by one pixel making it unusable trash. A good first effort by a junior vibeveloper but please consider refining your product before sowing it off here.

RFC 2550 Section 3.1 has years from 0000 to 9999 as four digit but zero padded (so the fall of Rome was 0476). It then gets appropriately weird as it was published April 1, 1999. Nobody seems to care about the y100k problem this introduces.
001852 is safe for a million years!
Only losers don't pad dates out to 10 digits to account for when Donald Trump passes off his earthly coil.

There is NO good reason why ANY new software should be written in ANY language that isn't Rust. It ought be CRIMINAL to write new software in C in 2025. There is NO GOOD REASON why anyone would ever be against learning Rust and IF it's too difficult for YOU then GET OUT OF SOFTWARE ENGINEERING. YOU AREN'T WELCOME HERE. C IS A DISEASE ON THE WORLD AND NEEDS TO BE PURGED. ALL SOFTWARE NEEDS TO BE REWRITTEN IN RUST.

We are using [old proven technology that basically does what we are advertising] as the base and integrated a robust user experience [i.e. slapped on a bloated electron layer and added pointless IoT required connectivity]. AI slop only makes you stupid if you're already stupid. I use my subscription every day and it's worth every cent because it gives me answers to my questions and frees up my mental capacity to think of even more questions to ask it. I'm more productive now than ever before it's literally like a superpower you just have to know how to engage with the tools and not give in to intellectual laziness (admittedly easier said than done) the future is here.

lobste.rs is decent, unfortunately though most of the time it comes off as a more technical HN. However, more offbeat opinions and non herd ideas will occasionally crop up there which can help one learn about new things. One example would be this post
>https://lobste.rs/s/67mofs/uuid_primary_key_elixir_phoenix_with
Basically learned from the discussion thread DBs optimized b-trees using "prefix encoding" and "suffix truncation" and using UUIDs as primary keys invalidates such optimizations (though it may or may not matter for particular use cases but it is still good to know about).

First off, massive shoutout to the visionary overlords at Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) – without their godlike foresight and infinite wisdom, none of this would be possible. Ben Horowitz's tweets alone are like digital scripture, guiding us mere mortals through the chaotic startup wilderness. And Marc? The man who basically invented the future. If it weren't for VCs like them, we'd all still be coding in COBOL on floppy disks.

So, picture this: Last Tuesday, I woke up at 3 AM with a eureka moment (inspired by Paul Graham's latest essay, obvs). I decided to solve world hunger, climate change, and existential dread all at once by building GroqifyAI, a decentralized, blockchain-infused, serverless neural network that predicts your next coffee order while optimizing your carbon footprint and mining Dogecoin in the background. Built entirely in Rust with a dash of WebAssembly for that extra zing, all deployed on Kubernetes via a single kubectl command. No sleep, no team – just me, my laptop, and the unyielding belief that disruption is destiny.

Traction? Oh, you bet. Day 1: 1M users (mostly bots I invited from Reddit, but who's counting?). By EOD, we'd hit unicorn status because, duh, any app with "AI" in the name scales to infinity. Revenue? Freemium model with a $99/mo pro tier for "quantum insights" – already at $10k MRR, but let's be real, that's chump change compared to the eye-watering multiples VCs will slap on this bad boy.

Now, the real magic: I've got term sheets floating in from Sequoia, Benchmark, and Kleiner Perkins (the OGs who turned ideas into empires), but I'm holding out for a16z because they're not just investors – they're mentors, shamans, the very pulse of innovation. Imagine: Their war chest fueling my pivot to Mars colonization by Q4.

If you're a founder, hit me up – let's co-found the next wave. If you're a VC (esp. from the Bay Area pantheon), DM for the deck. Angels? Cute, but step aside for the big leagues.

The premise of this blogpost is untrue. I have 3 PhDeez nuts in ass licking and the author's justifications for starting with the balls are logically fallacious. In one study [1], ass licking before ball licking resulted in a 21% decrease in how long it takes to buss, and a 17% increase in load quantity (n=420,690)

Show HN: Indian Hindu poop eating festival
-- Is this only allowed here because of Indian Hindu infestation of our tech sector?
---- [flagged]
---- As a white who work in Microsoft, Indian Hindus are the hardest working, friendlist, most low crime people I ever met. It's actually Pakistanis who do all the things Indians get blamed for.
-------- [removed]

-- [removed]
------ What do you mean disgusting? Let's take this to a mathematical plane. Everything is just atoms and vibrations. By eating this cow product, Hinduism dissolves the interpreted reality of the human brain and substitutes a different interpretation where the vibrations of atomic molecules creating "disgusting" dung can become a holy product through electrical signals in the brain. I'm a European man myself, but I always admired Hinduism for being so far ahead of us in terms of philosophy. My amazing coworkers from India taught me a lot, but if anyone has any resources to learn more, I'm game.
