You can get fined and such for seeding. You basically can't really be punished nearly as bad for leeching (like drug dealing vs drug taking). The longer you spend engaging in piracy the longer you're exposed to getting caught.

I used to not seed in the mid 2000s back when doing it would impact my browsing experience significantly (my brother would also throw a tantrum if I did it when I wasn't using my computer but he was using his), but now that I have enough bandwidth that seeding cannot be felt in any way and it's also free I would have to be a dick to not do it

I don't use public trackers and the private ones don't have uploads that last as long (for video they get duped by superior quality encodes, for audio the trackers go under every decade or so; redacteds time is almost up), so it's not that easy to accumulate ratio on a single torrent.

newer clients have not added sweet fuck all that would make it worth changing. only single thing they have is better out-of-the-box configuration for very fast downloads, but if you can configure utorrent properly, this becomes a non-issue.

I think the only problem I have with 2.2.1 is that it can't support torrents above a certain piece size, and it's 32bit only which limits how much cache it can allocate... but both of these would only end up as a problem if I were to use a 2gigabit line to download a 2TB torrent.
