How do I remove the mesh filters from the nozzles? I want to try filling the nozzles with foam (cut up pieces of ear protection foam) to reduce the treble. Saw a guy on Headfi do this with his KZ Castors.

idc I really liked their foams and the shape & ergonomics, but one half of the middle pin is broken off. Constant issues with both the cable and Fiio UTWS5's. Loose fit, spinning easily, not locking in. Locking tight but a very shitty connection. Outer ring too loose, outer ring spinning, etc etc etc. Whenever I'd get one part fit well another aspect would fail me. Is there a reason most IEMs are bulkier and dont have this form factor, besides afaik Sennheisers. Any slept-upon chink bangers with this shape? Unless someone has the forbidden knowledge to fix this incredibly small and delicate pin.

you can do either, it just depends on what you goal is. if it's to swap old and clogged filters, then replace. if you're looking to change the sound, then again it depends on if the combination of the two or just using one filter will be ideal for your preferences
for now i would say keep them separate so you can see what the 500 mesh will change. if you want to test out the combination, put the old stock mesh on top of the other since the glue won't be as strong. i've stacked those 500 mesh filters and it's pretty hard to separate them

It's alright, will suit anyone new just fine. If you want anything better got for a $50 pair instead of a sidegrade. If that's not within your budget the Chu2 will work just fine, just beware of eventual brass corrosion (all this means is that you need to clean the nozzle after a few months).

Sticking to moondropped, May on sale should suit you fine. It's small and flat for sleeping. For even better build, Aria 2 since it's full metal, but beware this one it has same brass issue as the Chu2.

Chu 2. Hands down. Take it from me that the steel shells are very VERY small meaning they're comfortable for long periods of time. The supplied cable is also made from soft plastic so it isn't irritating at all when sleeping. Do maintenance and wipe the brass nozzles with dry, soft cloth. For the clogging issue that makes one bud louder than the other, take the piece of white paper (your filter) off the nozzle since it's removable, take two pieces of tape, and sandwich it between the stick sydes. Press hard with thumbs and remove fron tape. Repeat if necessary.

easy to argue something is following a tuning if you simply overlay FR and targets. your assumption about the 7Hz planar tunings is only that, an assumption. I asked where it was explicitly stated what tunings these two followed and overlaying their FR on a possibly unrelated target says nothing. I could argue those pos are IEF preference by overlaying their FR onto the target, but it would still be just as much conjecture as assuming anything else.

Kinda want buying advice. My ear canals are apparently really short and pretty much every normal fitting pos gives me a rather annoying ear canal resonance around 9500 Hz.
pic related is just an example but that's pretty much how I hear most of my IEMs. Recessed 4-8k region and huge as fuck peak. 711 obviously won't show actual acoustic impedance so add boost to everything south of 1k to that... It's actually even more fucked inside my ears and dealing with it via EQ is kinda annoying. (if you want to know how this sound - very shrilly and very very grainy...).
So I want a good iem with the shallowest fit possible. Short as fuck nozzles too. But obviously not to an unreasonable degree. And also short and huge eartips to pair with them... Probably XL size. I'd prefer JM-1 tuning but any decent tuning without too much treble will be acceptable.
Price I dunno I'd want something under $100 but 200 is also fine. I'm hoping for ear resonance to be around 8500-8700 with that - where it's much less annoying to deal with.
(additionally I checked nozzle DB but its info kinda doesn't really say anything about how shallow the fit will be)
Any ideas? ANYTHING AT ALL? It's annoying to have the exact opposite problem of most people who want deeper fit instead of a shallower one...

My ears are pretty deep actually and ear canals are very wide at the start so almost any IEM will fit really deep no matter what...

Found a pair of Kiwi Ears Cadenzas in a drawer today. Been listening a bit. I like them. The sound is very balanced, nothing is really irritating. Soundstage is pretty narrow, but that's probably due to the tuning. It's not the best IEM I've heard (it doesn't beat the Fiio FH3), but it's probably gonna be a top 3 for me now.

Currently using a pair of ath m40x and while I do, enjoy some of the clarity, they seem kind of lifeless too
