2007 laptop. Gonna be honest, watching YouTube is pretty much the limit on what it can do.

And Moore's law ended 15 years ago, so any CPU made in the last 15 years is still useful today and therefore can't be old.

why llvmpipe? which gpu does it have

Pretty much 100% sure the radeon firmware covers the GPU and that it's working since it says it's loads it during startup. Not really sure what llvmpipe is doing maybe it's an error on the part of fetch or it works as a final layer? Either way I would assume it's not doing all that much.

the kernel module radeon and modesetting combo is what you would use on linux
inxi -G command will clear everything up, do you have it on bsd

Sigh. This year was going to be my first AMD since the K7 Athlon XP. A Rizen 7, or 9, whatever. Now it looks like I am keeping this at least until the market stabilises.

NTA but check if you have acceleration with $glxinfo | grep -i accelerated. also check dmesg for the gpu model, i suspect nvidia. t. fellow bsd user

finally getting around to replacing this old fileserver today or tomorrow. It's been running nonstop since roughly 2012, and has had the same arch install since 2014. gonna throw in my old X570 + 3900X, will probably upgrade the CPU to a 5600X or something just for better idle power consumption but not sure yet.

The APU chips with the handicapped cache that are like 40% slower IPC wise than the non-G variants? they have too many downsides to justify their cost, I can get the same by just undervolting and fiddling with the power limits without losing things like PCIE lanes.
Anonymous No.107166347 [Report] >>107166418
>>107166313
they aren't that far behind. you're thinking of raven ridge vs matisse with the 40% figure.
look up benchmarks and decide for yourself

I have a cezanne server/workstation. It's pretty good. I do passthrough with 2 GPU's and also working with the iGPU. It has full 16 PCI-e v3 lanes contrary to 3xxxG APU's where they only had 8 lanes

well the cezannes have real zen 3 cores whereas the ryzen 2000g and 3000g chips were zen1

correct, 3000G's where Zen+ (not much of a difference desu)

maybe I am mixing the two up, either way if I recall the 5600G doesn't even support PCIE 4, the only thing it does well is memory latency since its a monolithic non-CCD chip without the IOD. It would only make sense for me if I could utilize the iGPU on it but because my X570 Dark Hero I have doesn't have a DP or HDMI port on it so its basically dead silicon. Bit late now though because I grabbed a 55$ 6500XT off ebay for it.
