If you get the opportunity you should probably buy an SSD
>The same 1 TB TLC chip that cost $4.80 in July of this year now costs $10.70. That might not seem like a big jump in a vacuum, but the ripple effect carries huge consequences when scaled up.

>The end-consumer looking to build their next PC is who pays for this added cost.

Enterprise have infinite money pits from AI investment they don't care how much it costs. They are literally building DCs they cannot even power.

>have 6 different 2tb ssd's in my PC
I think I'm good. Though i have 2 sata slots still left, which sucks I can't put more SSD's into those. Well I guess I can wait until prices normalize.

I just got a 990 Pro from Amazon last month for the Prime Day sale, I was having second thoughts and considering holding off at least until the next sale at the earliest, but I'm really glad I went and got it.

>AI causing NAND prices to skyrocket
>AI causing RAM prices to skyrocket
>AI causing GPU prices to skyrocket
What other price increases is AI responsible for?

My plans for an all-SSD NAS are even further out of reach

Apple is going to be cheaper than PC by the time 2027 hits. I'm only halfway joking. The gen AI stuff means all the slop needs to get stored somewhere. I genuinely don't know what happens when DRAM and NAND just become unavailable because DC buildouts are sucking in all the chip production. Apple is likely the least affected because they book their shit in advance and everything is soldered, not some off the shelf component.

Case prices with some companies went up but that was due to Tariffs

No thanks, kike. I'll wait until the AI ponzi scheme collapses and all this hardware floods Ebay for pennies on the dollar.

Apple will just delay bumping the MBA base spec storage from 256GB to 512GB because of all this nonsense

Honestly you might as well yolo it and build a Raid Z2 or even Z3 NAS with 6 used HDDs, and a old SSD you got on hand. That way you'll only have the RAM tax to pay.

It's obvious the whole thing is a bubble sustained by bigtech having accumulated trillions of dollars in cash after selling user data to advertisers for decades.
When will the bubble pop? Do we have to wait for bigtech to run out of cash in hand or it can happen sooner?

Recommendations for a 2TB PCIe 5 M.2? I understand that I can't come close to saturating the link. I am more interested in having a large cache to complete large individual file transfers quickly over having the fastest read/write speeds for small files.

You can buy it for sure now, or wait until Black Friday just like everyone else to save 50 bucks and decrease your chance of getting it from 100% to 50%.

Might depend on what you're getting. I'd go ahead and try to pick out what you want then go check price history charts. I'm doing the same right now. Really wish the Tech Power Up SSD database had sorting...

Apple will never be cheaper at anything. They are the Guess jeans of computers and idiots will happily fork out more for a name brand. Their CPUs and GPUs are third rate. They want proprietary garbage instead of using industry standards so you can be locked in. You will always be an absolute fool paying more and they will laugh all the way to the bank. Consider attending meetings for beaten wives so you can see in other people what everyone else sees in you.
