ai seems like it will have some uses unlike nfts, but remarkably nothing has really come of it yet
the enormous circle jerk of money going around the small handful of major players is extremely worrying for the economy, though
even if ai lives up to its promise before the bubble bursts, it will be ruinous to out economy because people are trying to replace people with ai (instead of enabling new technologies); who's gonna buy your shit if noone has a dime in their bank account?
there are no good outcomes with the current situation

Google is worse because of AI. The AI snippet at the top that takes up half (or more) the screen ruins the experience.

But the results themselves are usually pretty good.
>>107165594
None of that is the AI people are talking about (LLMs). There are a ton of applications for AI/ML outside of LLMs, but the LLM fad (GPTs, etc) are fundamentally worthless

>>107165677
>the LLM fad (GPTs, etc) are fundamentally worthless
true. but a lot of people think that symbolic language is one of the distinguishing traits of humans. if these LLMs could be made to deductively reason, then they may have an application
however, i have seen no evidence that they can reason themselves out of a wet paper bag to date, so your point stands.

I was too young in 2008 so I still don't get it. Why didn't everyone just buy cheap homes in 2008? Did the owners refuse to sell because the prices were too low?

The banks, that all got bailed out, wouldn't give anyone loans to buy the newly repriced homes. They did forclose on millions of them though, and sell them for pennies on the dollar, in portfolio blocks, to their friends and relatives.

Your mistake is thinking they do not know that and will be worried once they do realize.
But the fact of the matter is, they DO know this and they WANT this to happen because they know they will be protected from the POORS via the government, military, and personal security detail if said poors ever to even slightly think about "doing something about it" (hint: the poor people won't do jack fucking squat).
They want to create their walled kingdoms like times of old while everyone else outside withers and die due to neglect.

home prices actually didn't go down in a lot of places. like my area saw zero decrease in prices

the only places they went down were speculative areas where people didn't live so there wasn't demand to begin with

also everybody was in debt, unemployment skyrocketed, and it was just a shitty time in general thanks to Republican fiscal policy
