hey nerds, just found this mac mini for $6 at the thrift store.
It seems it's 2018, but will see the specs once I open it
I'm the same anon here >>106848769, month later and that 2012 macbook is my daily driver (posting from it now), works like a charm, the only down side it turns to a toaster if you push it, but the keyboard doesn't get hot.
Let's see this mini now

that's a good price for a minipc, especially one so powerful

I think they thought it's one of those old apple routers, because I see them a lot there and around that price. There was another mini pc (acer veriton n2620g) but was ~$20, but it said celeron which is meh
I opened it and it is brand new, not a single dust particle inside.. I hope the specs are good tho

reinstalling macos, it does support sequia officially. But the cpu it looks like it's i3 (sucks) and the ssd is soldered, 128gb, sucks too. Only ram can be maxed out to 64. I'm not sure what i3 is capable of tho

If it supports Sequoia you will still get updates for quite some time, nice. Apple always supports the 2 last OS versions before the current one. Right now because Tahoe is the current they give updates to Sonoma and Sequoia.

I have a question, is there a way like linux where you take dotfiles or similar so I can migrate from this macbook to the mini without reinstalling and re configuring everything

check under $HOME/Library, but there's a lot of stuff there and I don't think it's meant to be copied to another machine. but app-specific stuff (like qbittorrent, IDEs, etc) is probably fine.
I don't know if there are other ways to do that.

Fuck Apple.
Shame you hit the lowest spec mini possible for a 2018, $6 tho.

9th and 10th gen i5 optiplexes you can find in a dumpster/facebook market place since last week when Win10 got EOL'd

why cuck it with MacOS? Plenty of Linux distros that will run just fine on that.

i3 will be fine. But given it's 7 years old, a lot of browsers will probably drop Sequoia support in the next year or two, going by my old original Mac Mini PPC G4.

Legacy Apple stuff while nice UI wise sucks if you're not willing to sit for a minute or two as OS X/XI beachballs itself.

show me one for 6$
6$ for an i3 8100 is a steal
consider it was the first 4c/4t i3, this held its own against the i5 6500 in its time, and this will absolutely be more than capable even with just the igpu for plenty of things
for an everyday use machine, which is what id imagine one would be using a mac mini for anyway, its fine

please do not forget we were once all playing gta v and squad on haswell i5s', this i3 is plenty

will do, thanks fren.
I went to kijiji to check, holy shit I knew leafs are delusional but holy wow, they are selling the same for $880 identical specs, the i5 for $1400 hahaha, isn't the m1 is $500? god how I hate people like that.
I just finished sequia installation, nothing like legacy patcher or any, just normal updates.
>>107167063
I know! I was hoping at least i5 and 265gb, oh well, maybe next time lol, will keep you guys posted.
