I made a group of characters with AI and I want to try and create them in Koikatsu but uh... my attempts at doing so came out rather poorly. Any idea how I could get them as close as possible to this style? Or if anyone could create even one of these characters for me, I'd appreciate it. The way I do it is I look for cards other people have made that are close to what I'm looking for and take the elements that I need. Like with this example just look for some kind of popular anime with an artstyle similar and look for cards people have made of characters from that to get their faces. The outfits themselves should be easy so I'm assuming the faces are what you're having problems with.

I mean I don't know of any anime with a similar artstyle but someone else probably would.

Anyway I'm curious if anyone knows about a problem of my own. When I'm trying to use the rotation sphere in Studio on certain things (specifically the fingers and chest as far as I can tell?) there's a lot of resistance to actually rotating them and they snap back to where they were before after every movement. Just recorded this as an example but it shows the neck is fine, the left thumb resists being rotated, and then the whole body is fine. I can still use the xyz rotators, but the freedom that comes with the sphere is so much easier to use as a starting point it's annoying not being able to and I don't know if there's a config somewhere that's doing this. Didn't start until I recently stopped being lazy and installed the HF patch since I was running pure BetterRepack before this and didn't have that problem.

I'd say first look at the proportions if you want to recreate the generated girl. The original has a head almost the size of the upper torso, with huge eyes and mouth to match (if that's the "look" you were going for)

Also since the AI can actually move stuff around for the picture (eyes are not symmetrical because of the angle, mouth off-center), you probably won't be able to recreate the look fully, but you can "recreate" the character.

Debulb the head (upper head, the forehead looks too high up). If the hair is made from accs you need to move them down and lower the front's Y scale, increase X scale (make the whole piece smaller if needed, first)
Bigger eyes
Wider mouth, nose a bit lower and a longer line - you can use the type AE nose line under face makeup instead of nose type.
Lower the jaw vertical position value a bit, or jaw Y scale.

I wanted to start posting my journey through designing scenes, but am now realizing that every render but this is over 4mb.

Okay, compression is easy. This is the first render that I made, but you will see me grow in both sophistication and degeneracy.

I tried adjusting some of the stuff you guys said, though I didn't understand what you meant with some of it like how to fix the head. I tried to upload the card to catbox to see if any of you guys could take a crack at it but it's just telling me "Uploads paused! Please wait...". What's that about?

Also she looks way too leggy to me. They aren't supposed to be chibi characters or anything but they're not supposed to be like, full proportions either.

Some of my early characters and outfits were also quite basic. You can see the girl on the right is rather plain, and I'd love to use her in more scenes but at this stage I really don't wanna go back and redo things.

I think they were suggesting upper head size. It's in one of the first slider options, at least on KKS. It's mandatory to make my characters look less like aliens now. What I also do with most of mine is make the jaw longer vertically, then raise the eyes, nose, and mouth to look more proportionate.

If you're on discord, there's a how-to for debulbing the head by using advanced bonemod window. Def. check it out.
In my case, I use a head alpha mask to cut off the top part, and then use pic related + normal sliders.

Don't know what you mean by leggy, but judging by the pic she's seems to be shorter - under body/general tab, lower the body height slider to 0.

As for the hair color, there's a "material editor" button, click on that and scroll down to 'shadow color'. Then just set the values I wrote, there and in the box you'd normally change the color in.

This won't work for very wide, narrow eyes of course, but your third girl also could use a bit of extra spacing.

when did this sort of thing exist for koikatsu? it's not skyrim. It's always been the repack of the game with mods and recently a separate studio modpack but those are assets, items, maps. No better graphics pack. If you want your stuff to look like for example Anna Anon then you either have to download scenes or make them yourself which is putting in the work. You can also use Reshade but it doesn't do that much

There are updates to the visuals, but they're not automatically applied. You have to remember that despite Koikatsu having a specific style, people have branched off to make characters of all different kinds of styles. They're all still Koi-ish, but different enough that one visual overhaul would work with one style but horribly clash with another. It's safest for a generic modpack to continue using the vanilla lighting and shaders, and give users the freedom to tweak them to their liking without fear of something breaking because of one wrong tweak.

There are some plugins that automatically switch shaders, and you can save the edits onto the card directly so you don't have to adjust it every single time. As for lighting, you can just take a scene with lighting you like, delete everything else, and use the blank scene as a template for your future works.

Studio is drawing way too much power, it's basically maxing out my GTX 1070 with fans spinning at 100% to keep it under 90°C (at 4K).

Is there anything I can do to make it easier on my GPU?

I should add that while starting Studio in 720p helps having less load when no map is loaded, from the point where I load any map (even a small room), then it's back to 100% anyway (since the room itself appears to be loaded at 4K regardless).

If I set my desktop to 1080p it alleviates some of the load but it's still very high anyway and not comfortable to use this way.

In Maker, no. No free rotation either from what I could tell, and it's fucking asscheeks.
At least in Studio, you can select one accessory, hold CTRL and left-click as many other items as you want, and then move/scale/rotate them all at the same time.

Usually via mouse, sometimes for setting up actual shots I use the eyeball thing next to the camera selection (at the top of the screen) for adjusting specifics. Also saving the camera position, for quick edits (so you can go back and see if your edits look good in camera).

Also you can adjust the speed from the options menu.

Years ago I found out about indie devs making games with KK and making thousands on Patreon, not to mention all the animators and card/mod makers making good money as well so I followed suit.
Coming up on a year of having a patreon and I'm doing chump numbers. Haven't made more than $100 any month, haven't even broken 1K likes on social media either. I don't want to have an ego, I just don't know what I'm doing wrong and why I'm not reaching the people I gotta reach. I hammered out a distinct visual style to make sure my scenes don't look vanilla, I got unique cards with real effort put into them, even started making mods for custom hairs and clothes. I'm sharing cards and animations every month but my growth is slow as all fuck. Then it's like every week I discover a new KK guy with a bigger patreon than me sharing barely edited Evaan cards with one outfit and somehow they're making $500 a month. I'm not close to being the best KK artist out there, and I never expected to break $1K monthly until I also joined the VN bandwagon, but fuck me I thought my work was good enough to at least get me earning a couple $100s by this time.
I spend every day making something with this game and sharing it and my efforts just isn't paying off at all. I'm wasting away every day of my life being a stupid porn artist for $50 a month and 200 likes on x. Things can't keep going like this.
