Why did Hitler prolong the war by not accepting Allied demands?
Why was he being such an aggressor?
Weaker countries should yeld to stronger ones

>Winston Churchill proposed to invade North Africa. The head of the United States Army, General George Marshall and the head of the US Navy, Admiral Ernest King strongly opposed that plan, and were inclined to abandon the Germany first strategy if Churchill persisted. But President Franklin D. Roosevelt wanted to support the Russians and as any Pacific operation would be of no help to them, he agreed to the North-African operation.
On the other hand
>The Luftwaffe and Kriegsmarine were able to successfully lobby for more men. The Luftwaffe, for example, increased its personnel by some 355,000 men between June 1941 and July 1942; By mid-1941, it should have been obvious that the war was going wrong and the army needed every man that it could get, yet German leadership remained unwilling to begin pulling men out of the industrial labor force, and they allowed the Luftwaffe to absorb roughly a third of the increase in the Werhmachtโ€™s total personnel
It's a tough one

One thing I've noticed: Churchill was aware of Operation Torch, yet he demanded that Montgomery take a stand against Rommel at El-Alamein. This doesnt make sense at all. Churchill could have told Montgomery to keep fighting delaying actions and keep overextending Rommels supply line, since Churchill knows that Rommel will HAVE to make a U-turn to face the allied forced in Tunisia.

The battle for El-Alamein is actually completely pointless, and Churchill only forced it because he wanted a 'British' victory before the Americans join in, so people died at El-Alamein purely for Churchills political points, not because it was strategically necessary since Operation Torch made it redundant.

They needed time to evacuate Germans from East Prussia and east of the Oder. They knew that a mass surrender would lead to mass abuse of every German caught behind Soviet lines. And every German that was spared would be held in poor conditions over the winter of '44/45

Partially true
They kept fighting because during 1943 the allies made it public that they would only accept unconditional surrender.
The Germans interpretated this as Germany being completely annihilated. Leak of the Morgenthau Plan also made NS propaganda convince everyone that this was a war of annihilation.

Many historians see the demand as unconditional surrender as a great blunder that contributed to the destruction of Europe and the loss of millions in the second half of the war, because it left Germany and Japan with no window to exit the war, and it also made it less likely for anyone to overthrow the regime because it wouldnt guarantee a better outcome.

Once you cross that line you can't go in any direction but 110% forward, Anon. Any postwar solution will begin with your death or at least your complete surrender from power which will ultimately just come back around to your death once you have no institutions to protect your life. You've already pissed off some powerful people in the world, they'll make sure you die painfully the moment you're no longer a world leader.

Putin is in the same exact position now. It would serve his interests to stop what he's doing, but he can't, because any postwar solution is going to start with his removal and any removal will end with his death.
