Why do many armchair geographers claim Iran has a terrible geography particularly because of the narrow path of the strait of Hormuz? Looking at the map Iran has clear access to the Arabian Sea, so I don’t see what the problem is?

>95% of the country is mountains
>”uhh durr why do people say Iran has bad geography?”

There is no geographic feature more cancerous to human development than excessive mountains. Useless for agriculture, useless for urbanization, and anywhere from prohibitively costly to impossible to build and maintain roads through. Literally the only advantage of mountains is that they are just as much of a hinderance to foreign powers trying to invade you as they are to the country’s ability to effectively administrate itself.

Seems like Iranians with their multitude of ethnicities have managed to effectively administrate themselves for the past 3000 years.

Funny then how all those three: agriculture, urbanization and roads first emerged in Iran out of all places.

From here I would say water levels and property prices, they could channel that but has to be mostly living houses and good ones

They implemented everything they learned from conquering Babylon, plus the Medes were already doing that shit before the Persians
