There were wars during the period, but they were called "cabinet wars" because they were low stakes and low casualties. People were ginned up and drinking smuggled tea from China. If you went to the right pub, they would protect you from being press-ganged into the navy. You would have a badass artisan job like making barrels or making candles. You could go bald and women would still think you're sexy if you had a powdered wig. You got to wear badass tri-corner hats. You only had a 30 percent chance of dying of smallpox, 70 percent lived. Only 30 percent of the population had syphilis. America was still part of the British Empire. It was before the Industrial Revolution. They'll never know how good they had it back then.

You're basically saying you wouldn't want to be poor in the 1700's. I think this goes without saying. I wouldn't want to be poor during any time period. We're assuming you're at least middle class. The middle class has been around since the middle ages.

>tfw you never get to govern 18th century British New York as a colony and then get shipped off to the Jamaican Islands where a mob of angry plantation chuds overthrow you and drag you down the front steps of the governors manor to brutally murder you
VGH... air conditioning is overrated compared to this

LOL@You calling me a faggot because you cherry picked one instance of something bad happening to someone in the 18th century and when I told you to start a thread about how great the 2020's are you realized that bad things happen today as well and you realized you were wrong.

Do they give a definition and specifics of where these people are? Is it stuff like people in Uzbekistan being forced to harvest cotton for the state or those re-education camps that Uyghurs have to go to in Xinjiang?

>Walk into a tavern and order a beer
>Some drunk stranger you've never met before calls you idiot and your girlfriend/wife/paramour a slut
>Option A - challenge him to a duel, potentially leading to your death
>Option B ignore him, be called a coward and mocked for the rest of your life. No woman wants anything to do with you because you didn't defend their honour.
Ehh, it has it's ups and downs as all time periods do
>You only had a 30 percent chance of dying of smallpox, 70 percent lived. Only 30 percent of the population had syphilis.

The so-called "deadly diseases" of history mostly affected children, and even then, 75 percent of children lived. Once you lived past age 12, you could be expected to live until your 60's or 70's, same as today. What we've been told about history is a lie.

>The closest to an official name for the empire was Hindustan, which was documented in the Ain-i-Akbari.[29] Mughal administrative records also refer to the empire as "dominion of Hindustan" (Wilāyat-i-Hindustān),[30] "country of Hind" (Bilād-i-Hind), "Sultanate of Al-Hind" (Salṭanat(i) al-Hindīyyah) as observed in the epithet of Emperor Aurangzeb[31] or endonymous identification from emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar as "Land of Hind" (Hindostān) in Hindustani.[32][33] Contemporary Chinese chronicles referred to the empire as Hindustan (Héndūsītǎn).[34] In the west, the term "Mughal" was used for the emperor, and by extension, the empire as a whole.[35]
seems odd to keep calling it the Mughal Empire

Cool LARP guys
anyways, here's what my direct ancestor did in the 1700s
>Lived in New England
>Was a Carpenter
>Died in New England
Wow man it's almost like in the face of reality life isn't actually like your favorite fantasy novels and video games and the vast majority of people were just normalfags that worked to make ends meet just like today woah
These threads are always so fucking stupid. It would be like if a guy from the year 3000 was like "Wow I wish I was alive in 2025, I could buy cool bootleg shit from China and join the Ukrainian Foreign Legion to shoot Russians wow guys it must've been so epic!"
Nothing is romantic for the people living in their time.

Hindustan is an alternate name for India today so it would confuse people to keep calling it that.

At one point around 1700 they controlled most of India, but it would still be confusing to call them Hindustan just because people would get it confused with the modern day India. I'm guessing that's the main reason why it's always called the Mughal Empire today.
