Why do yuros pretend their countries are super old? The US is older than the first french republic, a unified germany and a unified italy. hell a lot of "yuro" cultural inventions were invented in the US. Like carbonara was invented in the US

I don't think he's that far off the mark though. Either you measure a nation by the establishment of its political government, in which case the United States is one of the oldest on Earth, or you measure it by some sort of ethnogenesis event, in which case the idea of being an American does indeed predate the establishment of the U.S. government.

The moment the concept of the "United States of America" as a nation emerged is at the absolute latest in the late 18th Century. Meanwhile
>France
at least 5th century
>Germany
While "Germany" as a political entity has its roots in the 19th Century, there are countless political entities within it. Bavaria, for example, goes back to the 7th Century.
>Ireland
Free State/Northern Ireland are in the 1920s. But the concept of an Irish "nation" is much older; the oldest written texts of Ireland still refer to it.
>UK
The UK has within it England, 10th Century, and Scotland, 9th Century.

But of course, claps cannot understand this. By this map's logic, the USA got a new start-date every time it added territory or amended its constitution. If I'm right, the most recent amendment was in what, the 1950s? Congratulations America, almost a century old!

Europe is a rather war-torn continent, probably the most violent continent on the planet in some regards. The pax- EU of today is an abnormality (and a core reason why the EU was founded).
And when we dont have wars, we have revolutions. Europe is a hotbed of cultures, religions, ethnicity, identities and ideology.

my country has a constitution, but no-one who isn't a lawmaker gives a shit about what's in it
there is, yes, a point where people in an area are no longer the people who came before
the Italians are not the same as the Romans, time has changed them in various ways

why does it matter how old a country is in the first place?
not some kind of gotcha
wondering what made you start this thread
if it's to dunk on monarchies, you should know that Euro monarchs (outside the micronations for ultra-rich pedos where you buy citizenship) are the most unkingly in the world, being restrained by democratic governments and being allowed a handful of powers
if it's to dunk on them for feeling like they have heritage, well, you could say the same for you guys
you waz revolutionariez an sheet, as you'd say
you weren't there yourself, so your connection to the war for independence is equal to some French guy's connection to the French revolution
if it's purely to go "we're older", then by your metric, sure, but so what? if everything about the US as it is right now was the same, but it was founded in 1976 rather than 1776, what changes for you and for me?

China isn't a fucking country, "China" is a short form disambiguation, the nation state is called the People's Republic of China and it was founded in 1949
The republic that preceded it no longer exists
The same goes for Russia
"Russia" for most of the 20th century was the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, this country no longer exists
Imperial Russia lasted from 1721 to 1917, again, that country no longer exists
If time travel were possible and we could go back 200 years, the United States would be a country, you could go there, you could speak to its citizens, its politicians, foreign emissaries, etc. Same thing with the United Kingdom, virtually every other country that was around in 1825 no longer exists

It isn't, nobody is even implying this except for you and Yuroschizos that don't understand English. That map is showing when COUNTRIES came into existence, not nations, not civilizations, and OP (correctly) pointed out that the United States of America is one of the oldest COUNTRIES on Earth. This really shows how stable the US has been for so long and why the past 15 years of petty political division and geopolitical uncertainty has people thinking the country is near its end. You're aware that it didn't replace the previous documents like you're insinuating but merely amended or added to them, right? There's even a few clauses from the Magna Carta which are still law in the UK today. If ammendments to the US Constitution don't count as a new Constitution then neither should changes to the unwritten constitution of Britain.

No anon, most germans are not "rape babies", most of the women who were raped were murdered shortly after by their attacker, commited suicide shortly after or were in some cases murdered by dishonoured family. Abortion rates and infant mortality also surged at this time. There def is some "rape babies", but what you imagine does not reflect reality.

I dont know where you get the "all italians are north african" from either? Is it because parts of southern italy were ruled by muslims for a short time?

On the topic of immigrants, thats a relatively new phenomenon, and most of the people living in these countries are still direct descendants from people who lived there over 1000 years ago.

These nations are just very old compared to US-americans and idk why thats such a horrible thing to accept?

The idea of a German Nation has always been laughable. Germany is a fake nation created by the Catholic Church in order to create a containment state for miscellaneous Central-European Barbarian Hordes (The "Germs") and none of them have anything related to eachother other than a language family, which is why they consistently struggled to properly unify throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries. Every attempt at unifying Germany and Austria failed. Every single one. And then outliers like Poland just became unanswered questions because nobody knew if they were Germanic or Slavic because "Germany" isn't a real nation-state and never will be.

A document is required of course, but by the UK's own statements its younger than the US.

I mean they literally were. French (as we think of them today) history for example stretches back to at least Charlemagne, maybe even earlier. the Carolingian renaissance is when we start getting good records at the very least. Prior to around 700-800 we don't know what was going on or if there was much of anything, but it's not like the people disappeared. And before that they were Romans. You could even argue that because of his ties with the HRE and Byz that Charlemagne was a Roman ruler of a sort.

Here is some HRE kino content btw

This is a ridiculous argument, because they don't. All the 1801 Act of Union did on a fundemental level was add seats to Parliament. There's been several more impactful ammendments to the US Constitution.

The term "deutsch" comes from "diutisk" which just means "people" not "The people" or "The German People" just people. Anyone who didn't speak a Romance language and happened to live in Central Europe were just referred to by the Romans by a generic name that otherwise didn't mean anything. It's like claiming Native Americans were a unified ethnostate and not a million different tribes like the Cherokee and Apache fighting eachother.

It's strange how the evident insecurity you have about your own genetic lineage compels you to deny the existence of the genetic lineage of others even if it is obviously true. Being descended from Romans has no value associated with it really, it is just a matter of where you were born and to whom you were born. The Romans as we understand them really stopped existing around 1,700 years ago, the civilization had changed to such a dramatic extent that it would be unrecognizable to the Antonine emperors even as early as the 300s. Likewise a consul from the early or mid republican period would look on Marcus Aurelius with horror, that a Roman statesman could be obsessed with Greek philosophy would have been unconscionable. Civilizations change but people don't, not genetically at least, barring genocide or mass migration. These happened in Gaul post-Rome but not even nearly as much as it happened in say Britain.

"Japan is 4000 years old" bro even in Sengoku there wasn't really a unified concept of Japan, not even a formal national government until Tokugawa, and even that isn't solid until Meiji. And by OP's standards that all gets reset after WW2 so whole the japanese language, culture, nationality can claim to be up to 4000 years old, JAPAN is like 70.

The claim, correctly is that the United States is older than France, or Japan in their current forms. 250 years of unchanged constitutional/political process is a big deal, compared to most states being less than 100 years old, despite the cultures and the people's they contain being older

America began in 1620 with the Mayflower Compact and the founding of Plymouth. Early Jamestown was nothing more than an English settlement for economic purposes, but Plymouth was truly something unique because it was founded explicitly by people who held different religious values from mainland England and wanted to create their own community. 1776 formalized our independence but the pieces were set in 1620. The whole reason why liberty and independence were such important sentiments in the colonies during the time of the founding fathers is because of those original pilgrims.

Norways first National Constitution is from 1276, one of the first in europe. This was used as a template for the Danish law during their occupation of Norway, meaning the Original version was still the founding basis of Denmarks Norwegian province.

Norways Constitution is older than the Black Death.
