As a conservative Christian, I too believe that people shouldn't have sex outside of marriage. For a long time, I didn't have any interest in women who weren't also virgins like myself. traditionally there were lower class women who were fair game, but not socially acceptible to marry, and then there were "presumably" chaste women who were. The thing is the chaste women often weren't, they were just discrete about it. and two, there is no real way to keep this in place in a system with male/female equality.
