This is not a U.S economics thread though. Argentina didn't really depend on mass migration to economically prosper. It's a shitty primary resource (yes, beef, sugar, etc count) export economy. As a Latin American shithole, they don't actually control their border all that much. People just kind of trickle in. And they do so because Argentina, despite being a shithole is still better than being in Bolivia or Paraguay. Though they almost exclusive gravitate towards Buenos Aires.
