Why the fuck do protestants bitch and moan endlessly about Catholics having beautiful churches and cathedrals decorated with gold and precious stones when that is EXACTLY how God wants His places of worship to be like?

Have any of them read the description of the Tabernacle or the Jerusalem temple? Do they know that they were build following GOD'S DIRECT INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO MAKE THEM? The Jerusalem temple had GOLD-PLATED WALLS, with gold statules of cherubim and the Ark of the Covenant made of PURE GOLD, the High Priest wore gold and precious stones. WHY THE FUCK DO THEY NEVER BITCH ABOUT THAT?

Compared to that Catholic churches and cathedrals are rather modest. Why are protestants (and atheists for that matter, since they're basically just godless protestants) such cunts about this? Why do they heckle Catholics about this demanding that they sell it all away to feed "muh poor" people? Why do they act as if having beautiful places of worship reserved for God is something Catholics should feel ashamed of?

None of them are exactly like the Jerusalem temple, as a matter of fact I can't think of a single church that has gold-plated walls, all of them pale in comparison to the Jerusalem Temple.

But the point is that if God is pleased with the design of the Jerusalem Temple, then surely there is nothing wrong with Catholic churches which are not even as ostentatious.

the Temple in jerusalem was God's palace on earth, the physical location God made His earthly home and is no longer relevant (see the curtain dividing the holy of holies from the rest of the temple being ripped in half). the literal physical bodies of believers are the new temples since the Spirit is in us. continuing to waste huge amounts of money building fancy buildings instead of using that money for charity or missionary work is not what God wants

So? Why is that necessary for us to create beautiful churches? The point is that God has set up a precedent, and the closer we stay from that precedent, the closer we are to pleasing God.

I wonder what the proper conversion rate is between aesthetically pleasing architecture and unameliorated poverty. At least for me, I think there is one, since if I had to choose between 1. being homeless/sick/dying young and 2. deleting all the nice cathedrals in the world so that no one can enjoy them anymore, I would definitely rather go with 1. But maybe I'm an odd one out and most people *would* sooner delete all the nice cathedrals than suffer themselves.

The temple in Jerusalem could only be entered by Levite priests. The common Jew would never see what was inside.
