>>17796171>Geez, that's grim. I can only infer that by saying people who leave their families receive "many times more in this age" he means many more family members in the sense that the church becomes their family. It's not the only time He says that families will be broken apart by Him, but He claims that, unlike what you simplify, it isn't that the faithful will want to leave their families, but that their faiths will lead their families to reject them :
>32Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father in heaven. >33But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father in heaven.>34Do not assume that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. >35For I have come to turn>‘a man against his father,>a daughter against her mother,>a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.>36A man’s enemies will be the members>of his own household.’>37Anyone who loves his father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me; >38and anyone who does not take up his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me. >39Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.Following Jesus here does not mean to literally follow the Man Jesus. Following Jesus means to not deny Him, the Living God, or your love for Him, before others, even if your love of Him drives a wedge between you and family. Because if your family loved you, truly loved you unconditionally as god does, then loving Jesus Christ, the Son of God, would mean nothing.
>12This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
