Men are bigger, stronger, more aggressive, and more risk taking/less cautious than women. That combined with the fact that women bear children and then have to raise the children, equals societies where men are the ones who take up the role of leader, soldier, etc. Women couldn't do those things cause they're too busy with childrearing and men are naturally more inclined to do take on those types of roles anyway.
