Kind of interesting that the English & Germans are very similar in genetic makeup in the sense of being roughly half Celtic half Germanic, just from different tribes of Germanics/Celts largely (English being Saxon, Frisian, Anglic & then native Briton and German being Alemannic, Saxon, Frankish & Gaulic).

My ancestors were mainly Ulster Scot, English & Welsh on the maternal side, and then German from the Rhineland-Palatinate, Scottish, Ulster Scot, and English on my paternal side.

My gut instinct is that it depends where in Germany they are. Northwestern Germany is probably highly Germanic, with North-Central Germany being the same, but Northeastern & Southeastern are probably more Celtic, Slavic & Italic. Southwestern & Southern are more Celtic-Italic with minor Germanic element similar to the English.
