You see “stereotypical Jewish features” (big nose, curly hair, strong profile, etc.) all the time. But is that actually ancient Israelite DNA shining through, or just a weird Ashkenazi founder effect from being stuck in shtetls for centuries?
Mizrahi Jews often just look like regular Middle Easterners. Sephardim can be all over the place. Ashkenazis seem to have the strongest “recognizable” features but are also the most inbred historically.
So did ancient Israelites actually have that look, or would they just have been generic Levantines indistinguishable from Phoenicians or Syrians?
Also, modern Jewish women with those features can be ridiculously hot in a biblical matriarch kinda way. Anyone got reconstructions, articles, or even modern pics that make a good case for what ancient Judeans really looked like?
