This is a picture from the South of the United States, the wealthiest country that has ever existed.
This picture was taken in the 21st Century, over 150 years after the passage of the 13th Amendment

>Do crimes
>Get sent to prison
Also, I wouldn't raise a finger but I'm sure 3 seconds on Google could find you basically the exact same picture but the prison guard is a black guy

>prisoners can't just work like everyone else
>because they just can't.. ok?

Southern prisons are hell on Earth especially in the poorer states like Mississippi and Arkansas. It was even worse decades ago when it was easier to get away with torture and abuse of inmates, especially if they were black.

>"Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."
The 13th Amendment explicitly allows for slavery as a punishment for crime, OP.

Wasn't that Lincoln's vision? Deport all the Blacks to Africa post-emancipation?

At which point did stuff like that stop being woke?

Don't prisoners voluntarily sign up for this stuff to the extent that it's basically a reward for good behaviour?

Kind of, they mostly want a reason to get out of the prison and be outside. Or they want to make a little bit of money. Or get some good boy points for parole. The actual answer is in the middle, of course, which is hard for americans to understand.

it is a pattern in history that weak and declining societes revert to extort their own unfortunate citizens. without actual growth, both intellectual and material, that is the only way the elite can stay afloat for a time.

Nigger, have you ever even read the text of the 13th Amendment?

>Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Let me repeat that for you

>except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted
>except

tl;dr if the government wanted to work you to death in a concentration camp after getting convicted of smoking pot, it would (theoretically) be completely legal under 13th Amendment.

Awful... they shouldn't even be there anymore.
