What did the Japanese think would happen?

They expected that the U.S. would completely bend over in the face of their superiority and allow the Japanese emperor to go to Washington DC himself so that he would rule them as their new overlord.
Anonymous No.17826612 [Report] >>17826647
Clearly they expected the Americans to break the laws of God in order to harness the energy of the Sun and destroy a city of 100 000 civilians in 0.6 seconds.
And then do it again next week for no real reason except they had another one already ready

Japan should’ve bombed Vladivostok instead

They assumed the US would act like tsarist Russia and capitulate to the glorious Yamato spirit.

It needs to be understood that the Japanese leadership actually believe in their own propaganda. The emperor was a god and therefore would not allow his chosen people to be defeated.

Wrong, it was a huge gamble and all the top brass were scared shitless it wasn't going to work, but they still saw it as their best and only option for ever winning the war. Read a fucking book
Anonymous No.17826632 [Report] >>17826822
They knew a war with the U.S. was suicide, they just wanted to kill white people.

Fun fact: Hawaii literally only became a state because the Americans post facto wanted to make it look like Japan had struck "real" America. Otherwise, today it'd be Puerto Rico, except probably treated worse because it's further away and less European

Never heard that one before. Seems like a bit of a stretch, Hawaii did not become a state until 1960, long after the war, and it was done through a referedum in Hawaii.

America did not really need to 'amplify' the magnitude of the attack, congress voted unanimously for war and there was a surge of volunteers for recruitment.

Reminder that FDR wanted Pearl Harbour to happen so the US would have an excuse to enter the war. Japan was at war with China and no intention of going to war with the US and Britain until the aggression from the FDR administration

Why did Japan need to invade French Indochina? They were told not to yet did it anyway.

>they just wanted to kill white people.
Japan was allied with white countries until Japan proposed the end of racial discrimination at the 1919 Paris Peace Conference. From then on the west viewed Japan as a potential enemy.
(Pic related is commemorating the Anglo-Japanese alliance, Japan’s first official alliance with a major world power)

America is a terrorist state. Japan fought bravely against enemy soldiers, whereas the US bombed civilians like cowards

Yes, that’s the correct way of spelling it. Amerimutts have bastardised my language.
>Why did Japan need to invade French Indochina?
The Vichy French government, which was the official French government at the time, allowed Japan to station troops in French Indochina

What's your first language? Because if it's UK English, then wouldn't "harbour" already be a French bastardization anyways?

It was hardly in US interest to watch Germany and Japan carve up the world between them.

It's the same reason US guarantees Taiwans indepence in 2025. They dont want China to blobb, even if China is doing the same rhetoric of "we want to be friends with USA".

There is also a slight moral argument since both the Japs and the Germans acted like savages when they were bombing civilians of neutral states.

The French invited troops under duress and that still broke the promise Japan made of not sending troops to French Indochina.

Only person posting here who knows anything. The jap high command were put in place by the previous high command after they couldn't talk down the fanatics in their own military. Basically the special teams squad to try a trick play. But everyone at the top knew they were mostly fucked.

They don't. Trump literally said it is none of his business (https://www.youtube.com/shorts/iYwxDs0yv-8), the U.S. has no binding security agreements with Taiwan, and even if they wanted to guarantee Taiwan's independence, the RoC would have to declare it first. There are two primary reasons why the RoC (Taiwan) has never declared independence:
#1. They are not interested in fighting with mainland China because (they believe) they will lose.
#2. They believe that the entirety of China (as well as the territory of other countries in central, north and southeast Asia) all belongs to them, and they don't want to just give all that land to the communists (who they despise).
