The Founding Fathers weren't against taxation, they were miffed they had little to no political influence in Britain despite paying taxes to the Crown.

Washington was a swindler chiefly interested in his own profit. He never cared about the men whom who led into so many defeats. Small wonder he fell in with Hamilton and away from Jefferson, who actually cared about the self-government of the American people.

The Revolution was never really about taxes, and even a Marxist materialist analysis will reveal this. The simple fact is that colonies exist to have their wealth extracted and transferred to the Imperial Core. A colony can either be prosperous and self-sufficient, or it can be profitable for the colonizer. It can never be both. America revolted, HAD to revolt, in order to preserve it's own well-being, For the same reason Britain HAD to oppress the colonies in order to make them worth the cost of maintaining them. It was a contradiction that could only be resolved with either Independence or the loss of American prosperity.
In truth Americans had long paid taxes for the upkeep of their governments and the running of their states, Britain had basically let the 13 colonies run themselves as their own independent nations for a century or more, and consequently had not done much for them outside of defending them in wartime. So you have to look at the taxes and acts the British imposed from how an American at the time saw them. Here you are already paying your taxes as lawfully enacted by your representative government (as is your right as an Englishman), all of a sudden some guy from the other side of the planet is saying you owe him money through several taxes the legitimate authorities for taxation (your State government) have not agreed to or even been consulted on. Add to the fact that these taxes fell most heavily on the lower classes, it does not seem a stretch for an American to see this as an overthrow of lawful government by a bunch of greedy British Aristocrats.

Incredibly retarded take as expected from a Marxist. By your logic collaboration is impossible because "it can only be profitable for party A or party B" therefore noone will ever collaborate and we will always be oogabooga cavemen. It's funny how only the furthest left Marxists and the furthest ancap libertarians believe humans are this incapable of collaboration

You don't start an empire to "collaborate" retard. Oh you think the British were just building colonies on the other side of the planet out of the goodness of their widdle hearts? Had the British wanted to "collaborate" they would have just traded with the Native Indians. Collaboration happens between equals, a colony is by definition not equal.

You think the people on the frontier paid taxes? The whiskey tax was a misguided attempt at wealth extraction from people that had never paid taxes before by federalists. Naturally people on the frontier which enjoyed no infrastructure and were largely self reliant and had to deal with Indian raids themselves didn't think they owed anybody anything. Since there was no hard currency because we were in massive debt and it had all been recalled people on the frontier relied on booze as currency which could be shipped out of the hill country into the cities without spoiling.

Hamilton's attempt to begin funding his centralized state by taxing booze was a huge mistake

Before the 20th century, excise taxes on distilled spirits were a major source of government revenue, thus the Whiskey Rebellion and all the moonshiner/revenuer clashes in American lore.
