First of all, why would you assume that those deaths would be inevitable? Except if you clearly and intently seek to fight those that would expose and seek justice for those crimes, it make little sense...
What's more, any society built on a lie and threatened by utter destruction by that same lie deserve to fall through that same lie. That society, if it doesn't fall now, would fall later, and who is to say whether the impact will be worse the deeper into the lie we all are? What if it falls through happenstance, rather than a controlled manner? It's utterly inacceptable to see something we can rebuild better in a safe and sound way and just let it sit, to rot and crumble suddenly with muffled warnings.
