What did Yeshua mean by this?
>Even the more intelligent Christians preach these absurdities. Their injunctions are like this:
>"Let no one educated, no one wise, no one sensible draw near. For these abilities are thought by us to be evils. But as for anyone ignorant, anyone stupid, anyone uneducated, anyone childish, let him come boldly."
>By the fact that they themselves admit that these people are worthy of their god, they show that they want and are able to convince only the foolish, dishonorable and stupid, and only slaves, women and little children.
>But the call to membership in the cult of Christ is this: Whoever is a sinner, whoever is unwise, whoever is childish–yea, whoever is a wretch–his is the kingdom of God.
>And so they invite into membership those who by their own account are sinners: the dishonest, thieves, burglars, poisoners, blasphemers of all descriptions, grave robbers.

He literally didn't say this though. That's clearly from a polemic against Christianity, Celsus maybe?

You're right on the dollar, but that's exactly what Jesus did and what Paul preached.
>While Jesus was having dinner at Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him.
>The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’
>Brothers, consider the time of your calling: Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were powerful; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly and despised things of the world, and the things that are not, to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast in His presence.
>Let no one deceive himself. If any of you thinks he is wise in this age, he should become a fool, so that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness.” And again, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.”

Relying on your own strength is not the Way. During Christ's time people tried to rely on politics and social status to enact change. Today people rely on cleverly constructed arguments and models. It is all silly and the sooner you realize this, the sooner you will establish a relationship with God.
That is not to say that politics, philosophy and human strength should be discounted altogether. But if you base your identity on those things (the educated, the wise, the sensible...) then you are your own obstacle.

Who wrote down what Jesus said and when?

Jesus says a number of things in the same vein, though not quite as easy to take the wrong way, like “Those who are well have no need of a physician but those who are sick; I have not come to call the righteous but sinners.” from Mark 2 or the picrel passages from Luke 18 about admitted sinners being justified, not those who think they are righteous, and how the kingdom of God is for little children and those like little children.

Imo Paul and Jesus are often surprisingly well aligned, though I'm very partial to the idea, not wholly without evidence, that much of what is dislikeable in Paul is interpolations. And if someone is comfortable rejecting Paul entirely while still wanting to think of themselves as a follower of Jesus, I think they should be similarly comfortable with the less total idea that Paul's writings have been distorted. Though I guess that comes with the danger of doubting whether anything in the new testament is trustworthy.
Anonymous No.17852427 >>17852485

they're somewhat well aligned, but you come to expect everyone other than jesus to be flawed palpably.
besides, being as a child to inherit a brand new life in heaven is entirely sensible if you're legitimately preparing for heaven to begin with. think not for the morrow, live as a bird in the field, all of these things we're told to do and think.

to your point about following paul's doctrine, i follow christ, by no other way can i come up but by the main gate. paul isn't the main gate. i don't walk up with moses, or elisha, or isaiah, or john, or paul. i walk with jesus. paul for me acts as a contrasting approach to how we follow him, i don't see his words as law, but advice. that we should hold them in the same esteem as the words of christ himself is beyond me, and more often than not in this modern world he's on a christian's lips!

Paul himself felt it important to distinguish his own thoughts from Jesus' commands at least once, so that sounds like the right approach.

I like this passage, it's one of the few where Paul clearly enunciate that no, he doesn't speak the Words of the Lord, but divorcing your wife/husband because she/he's a heathen is needlessly petty when considering the Great Commission and retarded considering you more than likely already have a family that you do NOT want to separate with this.

to me, the reverence for paul is something like the reverence people have for someone like billy graham, and going on to say "well, if billy graham said it, then that's just as good as what jesus said". it's really bizarre to me, if i have to be careful with men in my day who speak of things, then i'll have to be careful with people who spoke then too. i don't think i could be honest with myself if i tried to ignore discrepancies. they definitely exist, i just gotta trust god. people treat faith like it's divorced from reason, but if you trust a friend seemingly illogically to come through with something, when they come through, is it illogical? no. it's only through the confirmation of the trust or the betrayal that we can define whether the act of trust is logical or not. some things can only be fully discerned in hindsight, and i'm gonna want to fall on the side with the one guy who's like "hey, be nice to each other." and after they killed him he came back and still said the same thing. yeah that's my team.

>But the Christians are not like the Jews in this regard: I ask them where they came from, or who is the author of their traditional laws. "Nobody," they say, though it is the case that they originated from the Jews. Nor can they name any other source for their teacher and chorus-leader. Yet are they Jews? No–they rebelled against the Jews.

this neo-paganism is a Frankenstein's monster built from christian impressions of the ancients, often attributed to Renaissance and Early Modern Authors and fragmentary pre-christian records. In Christ all people of God are equal, but those jews who do not hail the Son as Lord are traitors in rebellion against God. Yes, jews are traitors in rebellion against God who seek to overthrow the Lord of heaven and place themselves alone upon that throne. They are damned and evil bastards, every last one of them and I would personally love to see them all driven back into exile and forced to follow the laws of Mosses until their so called messiah shows up to save them.

A) if she had already done her Communion she comitted a sin by engaging in adultery, so not a Christian
B)Even if she wasn't a christian when she gargled thousands of dicks, I'm under no obligation to marry her.
