North American colonies had the backing of the more successful empires later on like Britain and France while Central and South Americas had Empires that had gotten considerably weaker by 1776, as well as the fact that no other country in the Western Hemisphere has as much "useable and valuable" land as the United States, geography, etc.
As well as the fact that expansion was relatively easy.
