Not really true though. Only the iranian indo europeans referred to themselves as aryan. Also. It was arya not aryan. There's a big problem with the Steppe theory.

Namely, if the Indos brought the Indo-European languages and civilization into Europe, why did they start doing it immidiately in Greece, but in northern Europe, it took them a 1000 years more to establish the simplest forms of organization?

The only explanation I see for this is that they came from the Near East.
From there, some went to Greece, then some went to Italy, then after a few centuries, they traveled north through he Middle East, and spread across the northern Europe from the Steppe.
