They also threatened war with Lithuania in 1939 which has also been memoryholed. They also put an ultimatum on Danzig in 1939 which escalated tensions with Germany.

Poland at the time was ruled by a quasi-fascist junta and polish society was deeply influenced by Endecja for 'Polishinization' of her minorities and anti-semitic laws. Half of her country had been conquered and as a consequence nearly half of her population was non-Polish. As OP mentioned Poland also jumpd at the opportunity to partition her neighbour's to expand.

Poland under Piłsudski entertained the idea of joining Nazi Germany, and the Germans first approached Poland in late 1938 on joining the anti-comintern pact, as Poland was initially envisioned to become a junior partner of the Axis. When Poland rejected the negotiations for Danzig and joining the anti-comintern pact, Hitler began making plans for the complete subjugation of the state by military force.


It doesn't have to make you a stormfag Hitler apologist to point this out, but it's quite obvious that the post-war propaganda narrative heavily depicts Poland as some sort of innocent bystanding victim (tho the nazies did end up murdering millions of Poles), when in reality Poland was trying to play the game just as much as the other dictators both to their own citizens and to other states.

When Western powers gave Sudetenland to Germany because of its predominately German population, Poland took Zaolzie without asking because it was predominantly Polish (with 120,000 Poles and 30,000 Czechs).
The status of Zaolzie was long disputed between Czechs and Poles, Poland eventually agreed to give away Zaolzie to Czechoslovakia in 1920 under the condition that Czechs lift the blockade of western military equipment for Poland during Polish-Soviet 1920 war. Czechs reneged on this, they got Zaolzie and they didn't lift the blockade (they supported the Soviets during this war).

Not to conquer Russia proper, the goal was to create independent Ukraine - a part of Pilsudski's plans of a federation of buffer states between Poland and communist Russia - and the offensive was carried on in alliance with the Ukrainians. Basically the current status quo but 100 years earlier.
